Was that an echo I heard?! I can't remember when it's been this quiet! I feel like we should organise games, or a singsong, or something........anything......"I-Spy", maybe?

I spy with my little eye something beginning with C (or should this be in the games thread)
Yes, I am flitting through as I do. Not much to talk about these days though - why is it that work expands to fill your leisure time? (Philosophical question of the day)

It's a holiday weekend in the US. First big one of the summer. I think a lot of folks are out trying to figure how to finance a tank of gas so they can go somewhere.

Know that feeling - my tiny little Fiesta cost me $60 to fill the tank this morning. Being a self funded retiree is not a walk in the park these days I'm afraid!

What sort of mileage do you get on that? Seems that it was pretty good on that little vehicle(was it is fiesta?) I drove down to Canberra last November but I can't remember exactly what it was. My Prius gets ~52 mi/gal and costs about 40.00US to fill--still too much when you're driving 100 mi round trip to a site every day. My BMW gets considerably less, is picky about the gas even if it is premium and remains parked except for on the weekends. And no whinging from you dreamer, you live in a city with mass transportation. Poor quoll and I live in huge spread out countries where there is no way to get from one point to another but drive.

Yes we do have to drive further to get to anywhere most of the time. My Fiesta does 38 - 43 mpg all depending on the type of driving I do which isnt bad really. Nowadays I only fill it once a month because I can walk to work (woo hoo!) but when I had a real job I was driving much further.

I think coffee is all I could afford if I went to Italy right now. Let's say we're "exchange-rate challenged" against the Euro. And forget the British pound. My in-laws are leaving here today back to London, and I don't think the airplane is any danger of going more than 100 feet above ground due to the amount of luggage they are taking back! But I do so love the idea of going to Italy, even if for a piccolo espresso......

We did it on the cheap, renting a flat, doing breakfasts and some dinners in.PRosecco, cheeses and fresh pasta were our mainstay and such bargains compared to our Vancouver prices. But , yeah, restaurants were pricy, also the vaporettos.Got lots of exercise walking, instead.

Venice is so small that you don't need the vaporettos. And it's a pricey city compared to many other beautiful cities in Italy
