Mark Rylance won. But Rufus looked good losing. Sinead didn't win either and I doubt R&R will. Good to see Roof on live TV, though. good night Rai

Rufus is young and has plenty of time to win. He will. Give him a bit of time. He's relatively new to Broadway. Look how many shows he had to do on the West End before he won the Olivier.
And it may be sacrilege but it was a better show in London. It suffered from being in such a large house in NY.
I've put another picture up on the media thread.

Unfortunately, all our fingers crossed and positive vibes tonight didn't help Rufus win; but you're right, Rai, Rufus looked gracious even when his name was NOT announced. It was nice he was on the aisle and we got to see him in the audience a bit. I'm happy he was nominated--that in itself is quite an honor and so deserved; I do think it hurt that the show isn't running currently. Maxx is right; Rufus has such talent and I'm sure he'll be recognized again for future performances. And it is great to see those plugs for The Eleventh Hour during commercial breaks. Thanks for getting those pictures up so quickly. He looks fantastic!

Yes! there were 4 Eleventh Hour plugs during the Tony ---One right before the show started and one at the end.....sooooo that is a good thing....seems like a consolation though. And what was the whole speach about American Plays and AMerican stage actors--that was rather rude!

Since I am in California, I just read online that Mark Rylance won best actor, but am Tivo-ing the show in any case, since I have to put the little one to bed, but I did catch a couple of glimpses of Rufus chewing gum in the audience. God, how gorgeous he looks (with or without gum, double your pleasure, double your fun)!

I bet he was thinking..OMG I had to sit through alllllllthese musical numbers and I didn't even win I don't know if Rufus was thinking that but I was. The only person worth a nickel was Patti Lupone. The American Musical Theatre has fallen on some very hard times. I've never seen such poor performances. Well now that Rufus and Tom are gone, Broadway is off my diet for a while. It'll be strictly off -b'way, west end and experimental stuff.

I have the world's biggest crush on Raúl Esparza so a friend sent me some screencaps... if I were in that room, I probably would have exploded from squee: p.s.: Alice looked very cool!

I thought of you when they showed Raul, Uke.
Sitting through that show was painful, even at home in my jammies. I think all the Nancy contestants sounded better than those Broadway 'stars'.
