I'm quite sure I'll enjoy the rest ... I like scientific dramas/thrillers, even if the plots are a bit dodgy, and if there's so much Rufus nothing much can go wrong

Well, I finally got my 'Eleventh Hour'dvds. I have played the first three episodes, and want to ask a question. First, though, just to prevent misunderstanding, let me say this; I think Rufus is the best looking actor alive, and also the sexiest man. He is a superlative actor, capable of untold nuances. He can convey more by the lift of an eyebrow, and turn of his head, than most can in half an hours worth of dialogue. He always gives 100 per cent in his work. In short, Rufus is wonderful, I adore him!
So, was Eleventh Hour written as a comedy? Is it a spoof ? I kept laughing out loud at the dialogue, the plots were....well, ...cluncky. Or is it just me, being inapprpriate, tired, and in pain? I'm glad to have the set..at least it's some Rufus in a drought!

Clunky plots. Laughable dialogue. Gorgeous, extraordinarily talented lead actor. Yes, that about sums up Eleventh Hour.

LOL! It did improve somewhat as the season went on (with some notable dreadful exceptions at the end--be prepared to hold your nose during Olfactus).
Sorry to hear you're in pain, Lindragon. I hope Dr Hood can alleviate your symptoms.

Big EH defender here. I agree with Rue, the series improved as it went along. The episodes written by Stephen Gallagher (the creator) were wonderful. I think the biggest problem with EH was the lack of consistancy in the writing staff. Much of the clunky dialogue could be attributed to the fact that writer A did not know or care that writer B had already established a character trait, plot point, etc. in a previous episode.

That's true, joyce. I just realized three out of my five favorite episodes were written by Stephen Gallagher! (The other two being H2O and Miracle, but the writers for those two clearly paid attention to established character points.) I still love it, anyway.
I've been watching it with two of my online friends while chatting together, and it's so fun to sit and fangirl over Rufus and react to the show together. ;D

Thanks, Rueful, I'm fine after a very hot bath, and asprin. And the Lol'roofs cheered me up no end! I did not mean to upset anyone with my comments! I will be persevering with E.H.

Lindragon - no, no, no, you didn't upset anyone, least of all me. Glad to hear that you are perserving with EH - Cardiac, the 2d episode is really, really weak. Like Rue said above, many of the later episodes are much better. H2O, Surge, and Titans are particular favorites of mine.

Glad you're feeling better, Lindragon! And I second Joyce--all opinions are welcomed at The Rooftop! If you ever go into any of the episode threads, you will see many very comments, even from people who eventually grew to like the series (including me). To me, half the fun here is the debates that arise. There'd be nothing for me to run my big mouth off about if everyone agreed all the time. ;D

You all know how I feel. True, everyone has the right to their opinions. I think most network TV is very weak in general! I would have liked to have seen how EH would have developed if given the chance. Sooooooo... in comparison I do not think its as bad as the rap it gets. Its also not the worst thing Rufus has been in by far, but thats my opinion. Will say no more...for now!

Kygal, you're right, it had a lot of potential, especially with Stephen Gallagher on board for a second season. I think a lot of the stupid stuff probably came about from corporate interference. Even with its problems, I still would love it if Rufus made some follow-up standalone movies. (And the rest of the Zen books. And a sequel to Pillars of the Earth where they realized they'd made a mistake and Tom was just sleeping. He can have a few weeks off during the summer to act in a play if he wants. ;D)

The dialogues are weak at times, but not worse than other network series (although some of them did make me cringe because they were so predictable).
