Just finished watching Vinyan. Not sure what I think of it yet, reminiscent of Apocolypse Now, in it's direction and feel of the film, dark in mood as well as cinematography. Not a happy film either the subject matter is pretty raw and the emotions are there. Ruf was quite good and has some amazing scenes, albeit not enough of them. He goes through some heartwrenching emotions that at times you think he actually lived them, he's quite believable; having a son of his own I'm sure played some part in his mind throughout the filming. Towards the end he looks completely drained and hollow.
I'd have to give it another go before I completely make up my mind.

It was a hard watch.....yes Rufus was superb, broke my heart in a few places, but I am not sure how I felt about the movie as a whole. Like peach, I will have to take some time and watch it again.

I hope you don't mind that I'm copying your posts over to a new thread for Vinyan in the next section, Peach and Robbie. It's only because this section is more for announcements, so it's kind of logical to have all the comments, once people have watched Vinyan, in the same one as the rest of Rufus's work. Sorry, I'm not getting at either of you - but you know how easy it is to end up with discussions all over the place! Forgive me? For quickness, the discussion thread is here: rufussewell.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=work&thread=981Thanks!

Brilliant scales, both of you. But I feel we could refine them a little, to reflect how we feel about Rufus despite our feelings about the film/TV itself: Rufus naked = ;D Rufus naked and we see his bum = Rufus naked and wet = All of the above = I'm embarrassed at seeing Rufus unclothed and just can't look (rarely used) = Or is that taking things a bit far? FYI See above scale.

I am a member of another message board (more of a general one, NOT Rufus-related at all) and someone said that Vinyan was the best movie they've seen all year! (I haven't seen it yet)

Hi, Doodles, welcome to the gang! It hasn't been released in the UK yet (if that's where you are), but it has been in France and Belgium - however, I suspect it will be dubbed into French. There may or not be an option of English, but I'm holding on until it's available in the UK.
Channel 4's offshoot Film4 invested money in the film, so it might turn up on TV comparatively quickly.

I am new to the board and was feeling very sad about 11th Hour being cancelled but this board has made me feel better. I think Sewell is a gifted actor. I am going to get the Vinyan DVD and I sincerely hope that the Usher project will be made well and get some theatre time. I think what I like most is his vulnerabilty but I think in America I am almost alone. It is nice to hear nice things about him here including the post about getting the date wrong for an appointment and then trying to explain it to a total stranger. I can almost identify with that.

Hi vmaciv! Welcome. I can relate to your sadness about EH The nice thing about Rufus though...he always has cool stuff up his sleeve. This board is full of Rufus goodies that will help lift your spirits. If you really want a smile, go to the "Games" category and check out the "Cap It". VERY FUNNY STUFF. Many of the later ones are Eleventh Hour. Glad to see you here. Famke
