The trailer is up on the site now but only one nano second of Rufus - in a hat! I've only just had a chance to look at it. It looks like a really good movie but a terrible hair day for The Roof: A true spoghead, he must be delighted

This is so frustrating - I can get the audio, but the video keeps freezing - grrr! No matter - it still sounds...well, amazing! Roll on March (I've booked leave already so I can go see it loads of times!!) And I love the rendition of the song at the start - who is that, anyone know? Thank you so much, pattirose!

I'll move this discussion over here since rai did such a nice job with the article-- The film grid has been posted for the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and Amazing Grace is showing at 8pm PST on wednesday January 31st-- www.edhat.com/sbfilm007/movies.cfm?thedate=01/31/07If you plan on attending you'll have to either take your chances waiting on line for what is left after everyone with the various levels of passes gets their seats or you can buy one of the many passes on line that allow you various types of entrance preferences.

An early AG review HERE. Excerpt: Meanwhile, the performances throughout vary. Gruffudd is generally better in flashback scenes. Michael Gambon is in fine form as the opposition party member who changes stripes, biting into the role like a happy bull terrier. And Rufus Sewell, who suggests the dashing intensity of a young Terence Stamp, plays a radical abolitionist with a whisper of wit. But unfortunately, Albert Finney, playing a former slave trader, doesn't fare as well. He might as well be wearing a huge sign saying, "Guilty as Charged." As handsomely mounted as the movie is, it suffocates under the weight of being a bland costume melodrama.

Oh dear... well, I'm stuck now, I've made the arrangments. At least I don't need to suffer through Cameron Diaz, Jude Law and Jack Black. Actually I can't wait. And the review of Rufus only sharpens my anticipation.
