I hear you about the ciggie butts Ambra...I had someone flick theirs out their window and it landed on my car! Needless to say I rolled my window down and gave them a piece of my mind...all I got was a middle finger and a not so nice name. Smoking is a disgusting habit...made more disgusting by people like that.

Except for Rufus, the only person in the world allowed to smoke and still be attractive.... he is exempt. ;D

Oh I agree...although he does lose some charm for me with a cancer stick poking out of that delicious mouth of his. Lets just be glad he doesn't chew.

I agree about the chew...Smoking is a disgusting habit, but I suppose if you must, cigarettes are much preferable to the public than cigars. I can't stomach cigar smoke. And I don't see the supposed power and sexiness of men who smoke them.
Along those lines my pet peeve was people who put out their cigarettes in their food when finished at a restaurant or lunch counter. Thank goodness most states have laws against smoking in family restaurants now. I only patronize non-smoking establishments. I just drink at home.
Now that I'm thinking about it, I thought Rufus quit smoking awhile ago. I hope he hasn't started back up again. If he's stressed I know plenty of willing ladies who would help him relieve it.

Dr. George Tiller, a doctor who performs abortions here in Wichita, was shot and killed this morning at his church. The shooter was caught and will be formally charged tomorrow.
I don't believe in abortion, except in the case of the mother's health. I'm still not sure about rape or incest. But as a way to solve an "oops, silly me, I got pregnant" situation, no, it's wrong. But it is legal in Kansas (and in the rest of the US too???). Right-to-life groups have tried to shut his clinic down for years. Just recently, he was on trial for performing abortions illegally but was not convicted. Not all things that are legal are right.
We all have a right to our opinion. It's how we express our opinion that matters. I prefer to do so non-violently. I've never protested abortion...only prayed to God to end it somehow.
Killing the man does not solve the abortion problem. It's violence trying to solve violence. The shooter deserves the consequences of his actions. Some people on the news say that he deserves the death penalty. I'm not for the death penalty either. Again, that's violence trying to solve violence.
Thanks for letting me vent. Moderators, if this type of post is out-of-line for this thread, please delete it. I apologize and will never post anything like this again.

It doesn't surprise me really. I mean I am pro-choice...I think a womans body is her own and her decision should be between her and her God. I do however not agree with late term abortions or birth-control type abortions...I just don't see the reasoning...again, I'm not gonna judge someone for doing it...I just don't agree.
So while this doctor was performing late-term abortions (how late term, I don't know) and I strongly don't believe in such a thing, I never would approve of someone killing him. It's stupid really, I mean if the extreme pro-life people are against killing the "unborn" child, then why is it okay to blow up clinics and kill "born" people....are "born" people just not as valuable?
I refer to George Carlin
"Boy, these conservatives are really something, aren't they? They're all in favor of the unborn. They will do anything for the unborn. But once you're born, you're on your own. Pro-life conservatives are obsessed with the fetus from conception to nine months. After that, they don't want to know about you. They don't want to hear from you. No nothing. No neonatal care, no day care, no head start, no school lunch, no food stamps, no welfare, no nothing. If you're preborn, you're fine; if you're preschool, you're f*****!"
Gotta love George...lol

While I am also pro choice, I draw the line at late term abortions, except if their is a risk to the baby (fetus) or mother. I draw the line at a woman should be forced to carry a baby if she was a victim of rape and incest. It's so nice that men make these laws for the most part and have a say in how we treat our bodies. I draw the line at murder, and this act was pure insanity, you'll get no sympathy from me concerning the perp who did this.
Both sides of the argument annoy the hell out of me, one side takes their case to the extreme, while the pro choicers fight for the rights of animals they are all for aborting a human life. Bottom line it should be a woman's choice, sadly this is not the case and inevitably the government steps in and has a say, only because some abortions are federally funded. It's a very touchy subject with many points of view that no doubt you'll end up offending someone. It's a vicious cycle.

What a fascinating thread!!! I've just spent the best part of an hour reading all 21 pages and really enjoyed the exchange of views & interesting topics - & i feel like i know everyone so much better now. Tipou's comment about her mum making macaroni cheese & weiners made me laugh because my hubby lived in Canada as a child & introduced me to this interesting combination - he also has it with potato chips!!! I always put it down to his mother being a little bit (!!!!) insane, but now i know it really exists. Now i know you're all getting excited about the start of spring, but we have just had the first rain here for 6 MONTHS!!! We're all happy about the pitter patter of raindrops on the roof & not having to water the garden!!!

We're all happy about the pitter patter of raindrops on the roof & not having to water the garden!!! I am glad you finally had a decent rain. It's been raining here about every other day for the whole month of May! Frankly, we have had a little flooding; thankfully nothing major but enough to spur on the mosquitoes. Looks like they will be quite numerous this spring and summer. Such pests. Remind me again, what exactly is their purpose in the food chain? I'm just not very fond of the little buggers.

We haven't had a full week of sunshine in this area in about two months; it rains at least one or two days a week while where my parents live just 275 miles southeast, they're having a drought. My step-dad told me to send some of the rain we're getting down their way because it's so dry. What's really bad is that area is very agricultural with alot of family-owned farms that have been struggling because of the lack of rain over the last few summers.
Right now, it's just hot and unusually humid for this area, although nowhere near as humid as where I grew up. I went home in August a couple of years ago and the first day I was home it was 105 degrees farenheit with a heat index (what it actually feels like because of the humidity) of 117 farenheit!

It needs to rain here...I mean this is Washington State for petes sake! It's been 90+ for the last week or two...my plants are dying and I'm getting migraines...I have to wait until the sun starts going down (7:30 or so) before I can even water or go for a run...ugghh I hate heat. Give me rain and wind anyday.
Gotta love global warming eh?
And my big rant for now...Micro-Managing!!
I hate having someone over my shoulder every minute of every day. I understand that things need to be done, but once you've told me to do something, it's GONNA get done by the time you told me it needs to be done, maybe even sooner...hovering is NOT gonna help me go any faster, in fact it will only piss me off. I'm not a 2 year old with no attention span, I'm nearly 27 years old damnit with 8 years experience doing my job, so just LEAVE ME ALONE!!!
*sigh*
