Is it me or has the pace picked up these last three episodes now? Something's different. Best quote of the nite, Rachel to Hood: "What's that look? I like that look" (well duh, don't we all???)

Three weeks I believe they have found their groove. No new episode next week, at least they didn't show it. Good episode, good banter between the two and the mood has lifted.

S P O I L E R S
Something's definitely different!
So many things to love this week (like the way he looked at Rachel when she woke up -- and I loved the fact that she asked about snoring! I thought I was the only woman who worried about that.)

Yeah, loved the sweet expression on his face when he woke her up in the lab and she's still in that fuzzy-headed, half-asleep state. A reverse of the situation from "H2O". I liked this episode but didn't think it was as strong as "H2O" and "Miracle" but still a solid episode. The pacing was much smoother and the chemistry between Marley and Rufus is definitely better than it was in the beginning. The scene where Hood talks about losing his wife and how it affected him was good and I would've liked to have seen more of that. I even think a "not so happy ending" would've been more dramatic. If the girl's stem cells hadn't been in the batch that was recovered and she died or she died before they could get the stem cells to her, it could've given Rufus a much better chance to delve into the pain that Hood has over his loss. He'd already expressed disgust over how these rich, selfish people were endangering the lives of others for something so shallow. The girl dying would've brought up even harsher emotions, maybe even rage. I'm no writer, I'll admit, but if I could re-write this episode, I would've taken the father out completely to make finding the stem cells an absolute necessity. I would've also had them find someone who'd been using the stem cells and had Hood confront them with the selfishness of their acts and Rachel tell them the legal consequences if the person didn't give up the "supplier". Then, as I said, I'd either have the girl's stem cells missing or have them not get to her in time. Unfortunately, non-storybook endings don't go over well with US audiences so if I wrote that story, it probably would've been changed to the same happy ending that was on the show.
Next week's episode is "Surge"; I'm not sure if there'll be a new ep or not the week after.

tipou--the show opened with a car crashing into the posh club's swimming pool. The driver's wife (who ends up being the woman who dies later in the episode) escaped and he was pulled out but was dead. Next, we see him lying in the morgue being autopsyed and the doctor's are amazed at how young he looks, despite the fact he smokes and drinks heavily. When they remove the sternum, the head doctor tells the other doc to get the hospital administrator and other medical professionals because "they're going to want to see this." Enter Hood and Rachel, who've been informed of the man's unusual anatomy. Hood confirms that there are indeed two seperate hearts, explaining that two extra heart valves would've over-oxygenated the blood, slowing the impulse to breath, leading to suffocation. When Rachel asks if there's anything natural that could've caused it Hood gives the line that takes us into the shows opening countdown: (First tick after Rachel's question) "only man's natural desire(second tick) to meddle where he shouldn't(final tick and into the theme).

thanks, ambra!!!
i like the openings with the clock ticking.
like peach, i liked the "i like that look" line, and how they played it. i had to watch it a couple of times.
marley's character is getting stronger, don'T you think? "my gun didn't fit under my gown", she says to the majordome who wants her to leave the country club on account of the dress code. that is the rachel young we like.
and the way she "played chicken" at the end, driving right into the baddie's car - which was not logical, given said car, she knew, probably contained the precious stem cells, but i will overlook that one, i just liked how the gals did the crazy driving, leaving the two poor gentlemen shaking in the passenger seats.
what happened to the ice queen? she is thawing, and i like her a lot now! you go, marley!
the story was not on par with the last 2 episodes, but definitely better than most of last fall, the pace has definitely picked up, there is quite a bit of chemistry going on between the hunky doctor and the tomboy agent, oh i am so glad i pre-ordered the series on amazon.
goody goody goody.

No problem, Tipou! I liked the "You've got that look. I love that look" line too as well as, "my gun wouldn't fit under my gown" one. I also had to laugh at the "playing chicken" scene with the big strong men cowering in their seats as the women speed toward each other. And her line when it was over "Perfect 3 and 0 record."
Rufus made me laugh with his reaction to the woman locking them in the freezer. Just the expression on his face when she slams the door shut, like "Well, I didn't see that one coming." Almost as good as his expression in "Miracle" when Rachel told him it was her weekend "free of all things Hood."

that scene in the freezer was too funny - "i'm a scientist, i'm not mcgiver" - especially since i really expected, like rachel, one of his unbelievable interventions as in the h20 episode - for once, hood's solution was so evident i did not see it coming, shooting at the damn door, how simple and brilliant!
their reaction to the woman slamming the door - "at least now we know who the baddie is" - was really so believable in a way.
that was one cool sequence.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS BELOW:*
I really enjoyed the Jacob and Rachel Comedy Hour. Their timing was very good, and the dialogue was actually funny. I liked the bit at the very end, when he's talking about his peach tux and they both laugh, mainly because I think he has a cute laugh.
I thought the science plot was a bit thin. I don't know why, but the investigation part of the episode just seemed secondary to me. Also, once again, I got an immediate "bad guy" vibe the second I saw her in the locker room. And I really didn't think that about each possible suspect as they appeared. Just her. (So I did miss the other guy.) Though I'd like to think I'm a genius, there has to be more to it than that. It's like the directors always tell the actors playing the guilty party, "MORE LURKING!" or "There's not enough evil in your line readings," or something.
I think we've discovered what happened to the lighting budget: They saved all their bulbs to cast an angelic glow on sick girl as she was getting her stem cell infusion. I was expecting the heavenly hosts to start singing!
*Moderators, how long should we post spoiler notices in threads for episodes after they've aired? Thanks.

The craziest, funniest thing happened while I was re-watching the opening, doing so because Rufus looked so gorgeous. tipou, I am so bummed that you didn't see the opening, because now I won't be able to get your opinion on this (oh, wait, you could watch it at that website that shows the full episodes!).
Anyway, there I was replaying the sequence just before the ticking clock, and starting with the shot where Hood talks about the oxygenation of the blood, and I had the strongest impression of Rufus reminding me of someone else, but someone so unlikely I would never have imagined it in a million years. And it wasn't appearance only or maybe even mostly, but the sound and manner of his speaking those words, too -- but not this person today, more like 30-35 years ago (I think it's probably because this week I caught a snippet on PBS of this person performing when younger) and I hasten to say, lest I get kicked off the board, a much, much, much, much, much handsomer version of this person!
So I was wondering if anyone would take a look at that segment again, and see if anything jumps out at you all, before I divulge the name of the person that Rufus reminded me of.

lizap, I looked at it again (that very clip is available on Youtube www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dkQc4XZUnY), but I'm sorry to say I couldn't figure it out. Was it his expression or his voice? I'll be interested to hear what others think.
