dont even try to make me believe that your favourite movies of all times include "the battleship potemkin" or "casablanca" - i have learned enough about you guys in a short period of time to totally know if you are sincere or not.
example. DGD's fake list the bells of st.mary's (don't believe)
DGD's true list mary's bells get ringing (totally believe)
so be truthful here.
make a list of the movies you adore, cannot live without, have seen the most, for pure or naughty reasons, the 10 movies you would take to a desert island (if, of course, said desert island was equipped with power supply and movie theaters - if so, we should have popcorn too).
HOW FUN IS THIS: you are allowed to later make amend and modify your list, or make a freah one altogether.
AND as a bonus, because you have been such good girls last year, you are allowed to add comments.
AND if you promise to be really b*tchy towards one another once in a while, you will have the right to make comments on each other's lists.
make a top 100 if you feel like it... time is not a problem on a desert island, especially if it is located in the aleoutians and there is ice on the beach.
let me start
[glow=red,2,300]TIPOU'S TOP TEN LIST OF FAVOURITE MOVIES[/glow] 2001: a space odyssey (the 70's were so good to me) local hero close encounters of the 3rd kind ("who are you people?") dark city (no comment.) notting hill (funny and romantic... what's to hate?) dangerous beauty (yes, i just saw it. no comment.) tequila sunrise (hhhhottest love scene with mel) the hunt for red october (sugar daddy sean connery is a hunk) monty python and the holy grail (ROTFL) frankenstein junior (ROTFL X 2)
oh darn. i WILL have to make other lists. 10 is certainly not enough.

close encounters of the 3rd kind ("who are you people?") My favorite moment: " 'Pourquoi?!' 'Why?!' 'Why?!' " Truffaut was so lovely. Of course, my list has been drastically revamped in the past weeks!

So you will not believe me if I say my top 10 are all documentaries I viewed in high school?
Oh well. Since I am a movie buff, I'm allowing myself two lists.
Top ten classic movies (in no particular order): Gone With the Wind The Philadelphia Story Casablanca (sorry, Tip, I really love it) The Best Years of Our Lives North by Northwest Now, Voyager Robin Hood Pride of the Yankees The Thin Man (and all its sequels) You Can't Take It With You
Boy, I had to leave so many great movies off that list....
Top ten "modern" movies (also in no special order): Cold Comfort Farm Uncorked ET Planes, Trains, and Automobiles Silverado Bridget Jones' Diary Sense and Sensibility Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone The Little Mermaid The Queen

Okay, here are those criteria: make a list of the movies you adore, cannot live without, have seen the most, for pure or naughty reasons, the 10 movies you would take to a desert island I'm going to exempt 'cannot live without', because then the whole list would be Rufus movies, because I am not willing to live without any of them at this point. So I'll go with 'adore, have seen the most, would take to a desert island': In no particular order: 1. Speed 2. Casablanca ;D (sorry, tipou!) 3. Secrets & Lies 4. Wrestling Ernest Hemingway 5. Ehle & Firth Pride & Prejudice 6. Middlemarch 7. Ang Lee's Sense & Sensibility 8. Tombstone 9. Tremors 10. The Woodlanders

1st of all I have to say how tickled I am to see there are other Jimmy Stewart fans here. But I shouldn't be surprised. WE all know talent when we see it!!!
OK my list:
1. The Philadelphia Story 2. Pride and Prejudice (new one) 3. Elizabeth Gaskell's North and South (Ok not movie but mini series...but oh how I love it and watch it over and over!!) 4. Spring Forward 5. The Station Agent 6. Me Without You 7. Dangerous Beauty/Uncorked (tied for fave Ruf movie) 8. Donnie Darko 9.Sense and Sensibility 10. Gentleman's Agreement

gentleman's agreement! yessss!!!! i loved gregory peck! well i have to add the omen arabesque roman holiday boys from brazil - for the sheer fun of seeing mr. peck as a vvvery good baddie moby dick and i will put another copy of "to kill a mockingbird" just incase
as per james stewart - waht can i say. anyone ever existed that did not like him, except perhaps a few unfortunate german soldiers?
the glen miller story the man who shot liberty valance rear window
these two gentleman would certainly be in tipou's top ten list of handsomest-gentlemen-actors-ever-to-have-graced-the-face-of-the-earth list. so far, rufus seems to be worthy to belong to that list, if what i read about him is true.
my only regret is that he did not play more baddies, he was totally terrifying when he did, with those dangerous blue eyes. brrrrrrrr.

Top Movie List for Today (reserving the right to modify as I think of more):
1) Psycho - best thriller of all time
2) Last Tango in Paris - or "The Last Time I Ate Butter", you have to see the movie to understand
3)The Pink Panther with Peter Sellers, pure comedy genius
4) What's Up Doc? Streisand/O'Neal comedy chemistry really worked
5)Suspicion - Cary Grant as a baddie is amazing
6)Tootsie - Dustin Hoffman is comedy royalty, I laugh every time I see this movie (and I've seen it about 30 times)
7)To Have and Have Not - Lauren Bacall, the ultimate femme fatale
8)Goodfellas - because I'm from NY and I love gangster movies, remind me of home
9) Women on the Verge of A Nervous Breakdown - Pedro Almodovar's breakout hit, a hodgepodge of storylines that work hilariously well
10) Hannah and Her Sisters - homage to NY and such well-developed characters, Michael Caine won an well-deserved Oscar here.
I am sure there is more to come.....there always is!

Okay, my list is ten of the films that have been my absolute favourite at various times: ~ Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (which qualifies as my all-time favourite. Won't tell you how many times I've seen it, but I know the entire script off by heart ) ~ Harvey (Jimmy Stewart version) ~ The Heart is a Lonely Hunter ~ What's Up Doc? ~ The Hot Rock ~ Four Weddings and a Funeral ~ The Goodbye Girl ~ The Man Who Shot Liberty Vallance ~ At Sachem Farm/Higher Love/Uncorked ~ The Squeeze (Michael Keaton, not the Stacy Keach one) Oh, no - just thought of two more: ~ Ring of Bright Water (cried buckets at that one) ~ Brian's Song (TV movie - the original one with a young and still pretty James Caan - wept buckets at that one, too)
