I'll try almost anything once (movies, I mean!) But I can't watch anything too gory, since I'm mighty squeamish, so Saw is definitely out. I was considering something like Matrix, but how is Queen of the Damned? I can handle PGish violence, but not exploding heads or visible intestines.
Also, did you ever see the martial arts movie/parody The Last Dragon? I love that movie!

I was considering something like Matrix, but how is Queen of the Damned? I can handle PGish violence, but not exploding heads or visible intestines. Also, did you ever see the martial arts movie/parody The Last Dragon? I love that movie! Ah. I hear ya, Hon! Personally, I'm not into gore that is simply there for the sake of being gore. I have always been sqeamish myself, so I desentized myself via Saw and a tv series called "Masters of Horror" wherein the directors reallly let it alll out. Hard stuff to watch! My best friend bought me the whole first season as it was neatly packaged in a crypt- so cool. She saw the crypt and said, "This is for Vittò" (nickname). Man o man- far worse than Saw will ever be gore wise! So, never watch that unless you want nightmares, puking... or a combination of. The Matrix is based on various philosophies. The actors actually took authentic Martial Arts training from a Master for the film. Nothing gorey really- more of a head trip wherein you ask, "What are we really? Where are we really? Why are we here?" What are we really capable of if we free our minds?" The visual effects are stunning, being the first movie to use "bullet time". As for Queen of the Damned.... hmmm... well, the vampires typically burn to a cinder. There is one decapitation scene (again a vampire) which comes up when they are on stage and after Lestat. No intestines in this one. And the music rocks. If you see the vid, there are cool Lestat music vids on it too. Great vampire music. Townsend plays a very very seductive and gorgeous rock star Lestat. No, I don't think I have seen the parody you speak of.

Thanks for the details. I'll try those then (the cinders thing never bothered me--after all, I watched Buffy religiously). Definitely will skip the puke-inducing titles. I am very fond of The Last Dragon. It's a funny parody of a lot of martial arts cliches, but it's also a very sweet story of a young man and his quest to master the martial arts. Plus it stars Julius Carry (who unfortunately died fairly young last year) as the villain, and ends with a DeBarge song, so you really can't beat it. www.imdb.com/title/tt0089461/

Light comedy/romance yet with that unlying suspicion that he might not be quite what you think ( chills down spine )
