Oh ! Great find, GE2!!! This movie looks really good. I love the look of it and it seems to be a really "sink your teeth in it" kind of emotional role for Rufus. I've not seen him in anything like this before. Ah, April 7th will be a great day. Vinyan, my son's bday, and Rescue Me on the telly. Yup, Great day indeed.

Mmmmmmmh... "bloody-disgusting" is not a pretty nice name, isn't it? But... I love those clips and perhaps I want to see it now. Thanks GE2, great find!

Good stuff, GE2. I wish it were coming on a big screen, but I'm happy to be getting the DVD soon.
thanks

Thanks, GE2. Just as you promised in the "Fortunately/Unfortunately" thread, you continue to bring us good things! I totally understand the director's purpose in the way he shot the third (water) clip, but for someone trying to catch an eyeful of wet Rufus, it was pretty frustrating! A woman director would have known better

GE2 thanks for the assorted clips, makes me even more curious to see this, mines already on order, although I'd love to see this on the big screen. Haunting is an adjective I'd use to describe the clips, in some he looks completely drained. I guess his having his own son and playing the part of a father losing his child can get into your psyche. His performance from these short clips is so strong as usual. He shines again.

a long time friend of mine just lost her 2 year old daughter. the kid just never woke up on sunday morning.it's a horrible event, losing a child. i was eager to see vynian, but after the death of charlotte, this movie will probably affect me in a way i never thought it would. especially since it seems to be played with such tender, sincere, deeply felt emotions. it must have been very difficult for the leads to go through this. thanks again, GE2!!

Tip, condolences to your friend, how horrible and very sad.
I don't know why this film could not be released to the general public, it doesn't look like they were cashing in on the horrific events of that day. I'm looking forward to seeing this.

i am also eager to see it, actually. those clips made it more intriguing than most of the "critics" i've read.
the tendancy now on francophone websites and blogs is for people to express their wonder about the strong reactions against the movie.
apparently the last sequence might be hard to take for some people, and even the most avid emmanuelle béart haters say that she is "not that bad".
consensus is that rufus is "great, as always". opinions diverge about the whole endeavour, some say the movie is dull, weird and impossible to follow, others say its haunting and full of meaning (the latter group being the smallest).
but most say that the "exploitation" outrage is not founded.
thank you for your condolences, peachy, i told the grieving parents that good souls even unknown to them are sending good loving thoughts.
having hugged them and cried with them, and not being able to even fathom what they are going through, i hope to god that no movie maker - including actors - would dare to tackle such a subject without some decency, but then again movie projects can derail (as dgd would say *coughdarkcitycough*).

Tipou--I'm so sorry to hear about your friends' child. Unimaginable. I am sending my prayers for them to eventually find some peace in their terrible grief.

thanks for them, rueful. its hard to imagine a worse thing happening to someone.
the mother worked in the office for over 10 years, and the father is our truck driver. she had left her job to be a full time mom. at teh funeral parlour, her two little brothers and her cousins were looking for her to come and play.
two young fathers working in the office came back in tears from the funeral parlour. in the office, it was a day of hugging, comforting, of crying around the coffee machine. any other problem seemed so... unimportant. as if we understood that a whole set of lives are suspended now...
awful. really horrible.
