Thanks ge2, thats made my day! Can just imagine Rufus being a little bugger as a child. I must admit before reading the txt, i thought that Casper was Rufus in that picture.

Maz, I think Billy now looks more like Caspar then (unless the blogger got them the wrong way round - unlikely): Oh, now I've put them together like that, I'm not so sure after all.

Yes, know what you mean. Billy's features esp the nose and face shape look more like Casper's. The hair looks more like daddy's. You can normally identify kids pics by some kinda feature, but i don't see anything in that pic that looks like roofus, maybe its just that pic? Oh god, now you've got me in detective mode...

Great Going GE II!! That was so fun to read those childhood memories of his friend. The things he said about his feelings for Rufus seemed real and were touching. That bit of pride he has in him is understandable and cool. I especially liked his sharing of how Rufus' on stage (and off) charisma shined so early and bright. That often happens with natural born talent. That it manifested itself so early in Rufus is no surprise to any of us here, but it's definitely a joy to read about--thanks so much!

like wichi i wonder why his childhood hair did not curl... my hair curls, and it curled from day one (that is, my hair's ''day one'', not mine, since on my ''day one'' i had no hair, but you know what i mean). but also, isnt there a definite resemblance with billy? or is it the other way around...
and the "older" pic... oh so very 80's, reminds me of all this punk and new wave music... all this dressing in black for no specific reasons... and looking like you would jump at anyone's face and bite it out for no specific reasons... ahhhhh the good old days of sex pistols and ... excuse me, gotta go barf.
and, yes, the idea of our dignified idol screaming "bullocks" and doing the finger with enthusiast insistence just makes him dearer to my heart. but, to mention billy again, i would bet my last dollar that sewell jr. would be allowed no such thing. no justice, billy, what can i tell you, we learned that 20 years ago from the sex pistols... oh, nausea again.

Actually I think what has happened is exactly what happened in my family. If you look at the youthful picture of the two brothers it is hard to tell them apart. As they grew older Rufus defintely began to look differently while Caspar looks the same. My sister, my brother and I looked like triplets as children and we resembled my dad very strongly. As we got older for whatever reason my sister actually began to look more like my mom and therefore less like us. So actually Billy looks like a youthful Rufus who bore more of resemblance to his brother Caspar. But I have to tell you the truth. I have seen pictures of Billy's mom and I really believe Bill looks like MOM. Sorry Rufus.

I agree, I think Billy looks like his mum too; same eyes, same expression.

GE2 , what a wonderful surprise to meet me on return from hols.. Thanks ,You must be the best admin. ever . I felt a bit choked reading it, about loss of a father ,childhood friendship ,mischief, loyalty and affection ,wanted to hug that dear little boy, laugh at his cheeky bravado .As for the teenager , don't know whether to clip his ear or smile at his cheek. How beautiful he was even then is there any way of downloading the thread as I don't seem to be able to Thanks again Re the curly hair. My brother and my son had curls as babies , both lost them when it was cut. My brother's came back in his teens and my David 's(age 12) is beginning to curl again

Hi, Frannie - welcome back. I hope you enjoyed your loooooong holiday. The original link I gave is now showing blogs from a different date, so here are the links for the two featuring Rufus: jcrawfordsnagge.blogspot.com/2007/09/1974.html for the one with the pic of teenage Rufus but with the story of him as a six year-old. jcrawfordsnagge.blogspot.com/2007/09/197778.html for the one with the pic of Rufus and Caspar in the car, and the description of going to see Bill Sewell in his studio.
