Don't know if I'm pleased or mortified Bob reads our posts. What must he think of our girlish gushing? Well, if he does read our posts, I hope he will please us by treating us to more Rufus stories on his bog. ;D Hint hint.

Rufluvr, I think Bob would do the same as us (and Rufus if he reads them ) and that is have a good laugh. I don't think he would have been a friend of Rufus if he didn't have a sense of humour.

Ahhhh, that picture from the 80's is just as I remember him but without the pink cocktail cigerette and his cigarette holder

Hey Loutisza! Welcome to the Rooftop! Of course you simply MUST give us some background to that statement! We can only imagine what Rufus was like.

Hi there.
What would you like to know?
I met Rufus when we were both 15 at a rather grungy party which we both gatecrashed in Twickenham. He was there with Cas and some friends and he came over and started talking to me, I was later to find his friend was the one who actually fancied me, but that's how we met.
I haven't seen him for about 15 years now.

Very cool! We're all rather crazy for the guy around here (as I'm sure you've figured out by just browsing around a bit). Several of us have met him (unfortunately, not me ... yet), a very few could actually be called friends of his, but none of us that I'm aware of actually knew him "way back when" in his wild and crazy teen years. I'm trying to get a visual image of him with a pink cigarette and cigarette holder.

They were wild, far too much underage drinking and hanging out in Richmond at the Cobwebs or the Princes Head. I remember one girl stealing his coat in the middle of winter and then getting me to contact him so she could have an excuse for seeing him again. By this time I was going out with afore mentioned friend.

LOL! He has said in interviews that he was quite a "wild child." And I can imagine he was quite popular with the girls. Worth stealing for, I guess! He certainly has grown up into a fine man, though. Not just an amazingly attractive man, but a really good guy across the board from everything I've ever heard.

He was incredibly popular with the girls, but he didn't seem to know it. He has this wonderful way to gazing at you intensely but totally sincerely, I was a little in love with him myself but I was one of his buddies. Although he did serande me with Wonderful Woman by The Smiths and give me piggy backs to the bus stop from time to time. He's lovely and very funny too.

Oh, I'm sure he still is lovely, I knew him for 12/13 years and he was always something special, it's a shame we lost contact. He asked me to keep in touch unfortunately I never did, so it's my own silly fault really. I could get in contact even now but I think it's best left alone unless of course we met per chance as too much water has flowed under that bridge.

Welcome, loutisza, and thanks for sharing your memories of a young Rufus - it's always interesting to read about what he was like then. Even better from someone who knew him so well.

That's OK, there are a zillion stories but they are best left in the past, just hope it gives you all a bit of an insight.
