How exciting to see pictures from the set and to read what the author had to say about the filming! But it is odd that Rufus wasn't mentioned, GE2. Surely that doesn't mean that Tom's part has been downplayed in this mini-series, as Rufus's parts so often have been. Tom's part is essential in so much of the book that it's hard to believe that could be, still it is strange that Ken Follett didn't mention him.

Welcome back 7S! I thought the same thing but Ken perhaps was so excited to talk about his experience as actor. ;D

Hi, Dreamer!
I think you're right about Ken -- he went on for 8 paragraphs about his role, about half the entire article! Do you think he might be just a little bit excited about his role? ;D

Come on Ken! Get with the program here. So what if you're the very successful author of a fantastic book and you get to have a small role in the production? Don't you know its ALL ABOUT RUFUS?!!?

I am not sure about Rufus role being down played but if you read the book the characters mentioned are main characters. Tom Builder is really killed off in the middle of the book and the main characters are the characters he mentioned.

I think Ken maybe lives in a world where it's just slightly all about him!!!!! He mentioned Matthew M because he sat next to him in makeup and then most of the others are the actors he did his scene with The really good thing about this though is that Oprah is maintaining an interest in the project, meaning that when it's released in the US she might have the cast on the show (although they'd all probably have to fly in from Europe!!!!) Fingers crossed anyway!!! ;D

It is really nice to read the description of Rufus Sewell. The article is really interesting and I agree that Tom Builder was a wonderful character. I did like of Prior Philip. He was an honest man. I am going to be really bummed if we do not get this in the US

"intense and multi-faceted" is one of the best descriptions of Rufus I've seen in a long time!
I also loved this section talking about Tom Builder:
Tom Builder is an architect and master builder with a vision. He devotes his entire life to building something of beauty – a cathedral, which is his compass to God. Tom uses his gentle strength to inspire and motivate those around him to understand and tap into their own abilities.
What a joy it must be for Roof to be playing such a wonderful character!

Thanks for posting that Rueful--It's great to hear how excited and pleased Ken is with the production. HUGE production--still filming, since June-- . I can't WAIT!!!!!!!! But we'll have to, as usual. At least it sounds like we won't have to wait as long to see Pillars as we've had for some of Ruf's movies. Yay for that! It seems like good timing for Rufus to have some time off between projects. The holiday season could be a great time for a recharge. He'll be able to spend time with his son whilst not in the middle of something else that takes so much energy and focus. (Being with kids takes enough energy and focus don't it? But in a good way) Well, all his fans can just put a litttle prayer up there that he finds yet another really cool project to do next. I say a WELL-WRITTEN comedy is in order!!! Especially since the last three ones that I've seen fairly recently ranged from mediocre to stinky, odds are there should be a good one in the chute somewhere for a change (one hopes anyway). I know he'd love to do a good comedy too. If only there were more produced. There seemed to be more intelligent ones coming out yearly in the past. Why do they make so many dumb ones for teens now, and not enough adult ones? Didn't the 40 Year Old Virgin do well at the box office? And Couples Retreat is still playing I see. (Is that even any good? Looks cliche'-but it's still in theaters!) Anyway, if they make a decent adult comedy, us old farts WILL go!! But probably not as much as the teen$$$ do, huh? So I suppose they are the better gamble, and more inclined to garner producer-investors. Well, enough of my boo-*uckin'-hooin'. Best of luck to Rufus in getting another interesting and quality part as soon as he'd like!
