I've been off work for a fantastic 2.5 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed not having to think about anything but myself and my folks!
We had a nice family Christmas and our usual twosome NYE and were really able to wind down a bit from the tumultuous year. I hope the new one will be a bit more quiet than the last was.
That said, best wishes for 2019 to all you lovely ladies!

Kate - sounds as if you had a lovely vacation/holiday. I think low-key celebrations of New Years are the best.
Kygal - yeah we're supposed to get that snow this week also. Not looking forward to it as it's now going to be snow AND sleet. Snow is bad enough but sleet is the worst.
Our nice quiet break is coming to an end. Students are back Monday and the circus begins again.

Rachel, did you have fun in New Orleans?
We only got an inch of white stuff. May get more a little later.

New Orleans was great. People say you can't have a bad meal in New Orleans and l think that's right. Had crab filled beignets and rabbit one night & scrambled eggs topped with shaved truffles along with Nutella stuffed beignets at brunch. Got to do a bit of sightseeing with the family after my conference.
Snow hasn't started here yet. It's still predicted to begin around dusk. I really, really hope we don't get freezing rain and/or sleet. That will make for truly horrible driving conditions.

That sounds very yummy, Rachel!
I've never had a big NYE party in my whole life. I've always loved staying at home with some good food. When we were younger, we used to play board games with our parents until midnight. Later it became just nice food and drink and chatter. Usually we end up on the sofa watching old music videos until three a.m. - this time there was a 90s night on TV, extremely funny.

That's a wonderful way to welcome the NY Kate. We have enjoyed some big parties in the past but I really prefer relaxing at home. Hubby and I had our first date on NYE back in the day. The last few years I think we were asleep by midnight...lol.

I also prefer NYE at home, but this year we met up with two other couples for board games, chat and a bit of food and drink. On NY we normally watch the Vienna NY Concert on TV, lunch with daughters and perhaps watching the ski jumping on TV. All very lazy. Good to hear you had a nice time off Kate, and some yummy food in New Orleans Rachel! I´ll be in London for a few days at the beginning of February. Have a good time everyone, and a happy Year 2019!

Midoro and Kygal, glad to hear both of you have a nice time to look forward to. It makes these gray days go a bit faster.
Weather wise, we're doing well. The predicted 3-8 inches didn't materialize. We did have freezing rain/sleet but even that wasn't as bad as predicted. And the snowstorm predicted for NEXT weekend seems to be fizzling out. Yes, it will be cold next week but clear and sunny. And just think - we're already halfway through January, so can spring be that far away?
