Just to get our discussion started:
I'm optimistic that it will be an improvement from last week's episode, if for no other reason than we get wet Rufus.

I am really looking forward to another new EH episode tonight, but, I'm finally going to ask: Is EH doing okay? I mean ratings and network support "let's renew it"-wise? It seems that the promotion of the show has been dipping considerably recently, and we have surely commented on that. But I have to confess I'm nervous...especially with the lack of comment. Maybe it is too soon to tell or no one knows anything is at liberty to say, but I'm getting concerned EH won't be renewed. Networks do not give shows the same amount of time to build their audience as they did in years past, and they also seem to have a "let's put all our eggs in one basket" mentality of over-promoting new shows that are already doing well (hello, the Mentalist) at the expense of other ones. So, in case EH isn't living up to unrealistic projections during it's baby season, let's just hope Bruckheimer's wife/girlfriend/boyfriend REALLY likes EH, and they put a good word in for it, if necessary. Or maybe us Rufus fans will have to get all "Lipstick Jungle" on CBS with a fan campaign. However, if our man Rufus doesn't care for EH anymore, or, say, has a dream role movie offer the shooting of which would conflict with EH, I'll be happy to support his heart's desire. Just wish I knew what was up.

I've said it before, not enough publicity for this show at all. I've been tracking the ratings since the shows inception. It's done well some weeks, sometimes not. You can try the site www.zap2it.comOn Friday afternoon usually around 2pm EST the overnight ratings come out, you can see them there. Actually it does very well with the 18-39 yr old and season to date it's in the top 20. Respectable I'd say. THe suits need to give this show some time, let each character develop and mature. I've got my fingers crossed. Tonites ep. looks good. Anxiously waiting. Anyone catch the drum reference? LOL ,

And yet more hands in pockets, Tip time for scientific research. Silliness quotient at an all time high, finally, the true Ru has arrived, and he is good. so very good. OMG there were several LOL moments, perhaps the writers have taken the hint. THis has to be one of the best so far, I loved the subtle and not so subtle humor, and swallowing pride here, Felix was good, as I've stated, as long as he stays in the in the background and it utilized for shorter scenes I'd be happy. 2's company three is generally a crowd.

well, if even peach is warming up to felix, there is hope.
to tell you the truth, i did ot understand the story so much. i dont know if its me, or the story. useless to tell you guys that you dont need to answer that. anyway, i need to watch again. oh poor me. i was totally hypnotized by roof. for once, he was not so frozen as he used to be in previous episodes. oh, what a face. oh, what a man. was there even a story?
what an inane review that is. sorry, gals. i will try and do worse next time.
but rufus told us what's about the hand'n'pocket thing in the "cap its". its either his pants may fall out otherwise, or he's afraid of being blown away. ok, well, if you twist my arm, i will have to research.

Tonight's episode rocked! Watched it twice as usual. The humour spots were awesome- loved the fact that in the subway re-enactment, Felix- this very tall guy had to play the girlie part and Rachel was playing the guy part. Mind you, I was quite perplexed as to why would Dr Hood get such a tall man do the girlie part when his footsteps would be far quicker than Rachel's (accuracy of time meaurement concern). My friend said she figures it was Hood's twisted sense of humour, so I'll go with that. Nice tight jeans on Rufus too.

Just finished watchiing the episode and I loved it! Great balance of drama and humor; I especially loved Hood's comment about Felix's mom getting a Yorkie after Felix left. Nice character development with Felix as well, giving him some dramatic moments along with the comedic ones. I also liked the idea that the terrorist weren't the stereotypical middle-eastern characters but "converts" instead. The writing has definitely improved, especially over last week's episode and this episode maintained a consistent pacing throughout, no real lags or "slow" parts. And does anyone know if this is the first episode that didn't have Rachel and Hood doing the lead in to the opening "countdown"? It's the only one I can think of but I can't be a 100% sure.
Not sure about next week's episode, just from the previews but then again, I wasn't expecting much from "Eternal" after seeing the previews for it and that ended up being much better than what I had expected. I hope that's the case here as well.

I don't know about you, but I feel much better! That was a really good episode. The plot actually made sense, and the guest characters mostly seemed to act and react in believable ways. The dialogue was much less clunky than it has been in some eps.
You know me, I have a couple of small nitpicks that I must express: First, I found it surprising that a well-trained terrorist on the way to an attack would leave a whiny, highly detailed and informative, "It's all your fault if this doesn't come off" message on a co-attacker's cell phone.
Second, I disliked what seemed to be a bit of superiority in Rachel's initial reaction when Felix asked about procedure at the end of the episode. I know this is tv, but in real life cops and FBI agents don't spend a ton of time discharging their weapons, and most go their whole careers without killing anyone. An easy way to acknowledge that would have been to have Rachel NOT act surprised and even kind of patronizing that a fairly new agent would never have shot anyone before.
However, overall, I really enjoyed the episode and intend to watch it again today in case there are any details of wet Rufus plot that escaped me.
As you've mentioned the humor was way more natural (although I'd like to slap the music director for putting in his "funny" cues a couple of times). I loved the yorkie comment ambra mentioned as well--that was a perfect example of quick, appropriate, on-the-job teasing (tease me, Dr Hood, please!!!!). Also loved the quick glance and headshake when the cop asked Hood if he really could read lips.
And if I ever need a frantic, emergency unpoisoning (depoisoning?) bleach shower, I want Jacob to give it to me! Was it wrong to find that scene hot?

you mean the violent tearing of clothes, and then a shower with him?? yes, sure could ge de-poisened myself.
isnt it nice how a gallon of bleach can always be readily available in any subway station?
what would dr.hood had done if he had not found a gallon of bleach for the reaching? would he have spit on hemingway's germs to death?

you are among friends Spice! Rufus gazing is a prime motivator for watching EH!
Tip, if there was no handy bleach cart, then Hood would just neutralize the poison with his laser glare. he didnt use that as his first option because it can be more dangerous than a bleach bath to any females who are present, as you know.
Edited to add: Oh, dear God! Lesson learned. Do NOT post from cell phone in an attempt to stave off boredom in a doctor's waiting room! It posted 20 times! Lucky for me, no one stopped in to the thread to complain before I could delete them.

I saw the episode last night as well, and while I admire the idea of putting so-call "normal" Americans as terrorist converts, I am having alot of trouble getting past Marley Shelton's wooden, and almost laughable, lack of talent. She doesn't feel the part, there's not much empathy in her, and there desperately needs to be storyline that allows her and Jacob Hood to be human beings outside of the confines of the job. Not necessarily together, in fact, I think it would be better if they started relationships with other people, but am I the only one that wants to know more about the characters' lives?
I think of one of my favorite shows "Without A Trace", where the storylines have the characters' personal lives weaving in and out of the plots so masterfully and subtly.
Sorry for going on and on, I've been meaning to post this for a while, and have gotten so busy at work, I haven't had time to join you ladies as much as I'd like!

hello there rugirl! work can take too much time off your life, right?
you're not the only one hoping to know more one day about hood and young, i think we all do!
personally, though, i stopped watching without a trace because the personal elements were much too invasive, and taking too much time off the actual cases they worked on. i miss the characters now, these actors are top notch and then some.
i much prefer the way the personal angle is treated on "criminal minds" - enough to make you know and care for the characters, but not too much as to lead stories astray.
i will beg to differ about marley shelton, i like her fine, and i keep rooting for her. she is every bit the dedicated young agent taking her job so seriously as to be transformed into the ice queen - nice contrast to rufus' warm and caring dr. hood, and now to omar's endearing puppylike goofiness.

It seems we are all in agreement, finally what we've all been waiting for, writing was good and great humor, in all the right places. Liked Hood's quip when he told Rachel that she can hear him but he couldn't hear her (in the tunnell sequence); and he told her that he read lips. Perhaps they're letting him have more of an input into Hood's character. As I have said before, Fellix's character is good so long as he's being used for sporadic scenes, and not in every scene. Time will tell.
