On the second link, it says this was due to shoot Autumn 06 - so I wonder how current this info actually is? Do you remember there was speculation about this on EMS? When I had my lovely chat with Rufus in the theatre alley last October, I asked him (like a good fangirl should!) if he had anything lined up after he finished in the play, and I specifically asked about this project - he said although he'd read it, that was all, "but, you know, your name gets linked to things..." But maybe he is now down for it (maybe he always was, and just didn't want to say)? While I'm here, I thought I'd mention a bit of whimsy in the new "Radio Times" (which is actually a radio and TV listings mag here) - there's an article about 70s/80s/90s shows that should be revived, and the writer says he wants Blake's Seven (a sci-fi series) to be re-made, with Colin Firth as Blake, "and Rufus Sewell as the duplicitous Avon"....tut-tut, typecasting again! Check out the character: www.btinternet.com/~blakes.seven/main/(click on crew, and the original Avon is in the foreground of the second pic - click on him to bring up the character details) Nah, don't think so...

yup, absolutely. I thought the name was familiar but I thought it was because of my on-going quest to ferret out what Rufus is doing in Canada...
There are so many factors that can set or ruin the deal on a picture. I'm not sure if most people know this or not, but often if someone is looking for financing they will nose around that a particular actor is interested in a property to see if they can find someone willing to pick it up. Probably not that with this since neither of them are likely to bring in money with their star power. Of course maybe it's a low budget indie.
And the money people always have the very latest news so if you can hook into the person(s) cutting the checks you'll know exactly who is doing what and when they are doing it and what they are getting paid to do it, which can sometimes be very surprising. But they make mistakes too. A few years back someone at one of the studios involved in making Casino Royale told me that Hugh Jackman would be the next James Bond. You could take it to the bank. The checks were being cut. We all know how that turned out, so for whatever reason the deal fell through.
But as of Jan 9th these people seem to be under the impression that Rufus and Michael Gambon are doing this picture. Doesn't mean they'll ever end up getting it in the can, but it's something to ponder.
And I like it because it's what Rufus wants to do. It's not a villain and it's contemporary. If it's good and it's gritty it could change the way people think of him...
Of course for now this is all idle chatter. <shrug>
You know I should probably quantify this by saying this is how they do things here in the land of 'weird and sleazy and loony.

Oh, I like the sound of it, too. Oh, he is going to be a busy little bee (with any luck), isn't he?

I think I remember hearing about this several months ago, then hearing it wasn't going to happen? I think it would be great if this was up again! I'd love to see it, and love to see Ruf and MG together again!

"Fruits and Nuts" is so limiting. Not everyone in LA is in entertainment business... (there are also wackos, freaks, weirdos, a**holes, pinheads and many many of Roof's favorite word--all in cars.)

Remind us maxx, what's Roof's favourite word? Is it 'f*ckwit'? I do hope so.

I thought it was the C word, I hope so. I recently strung it together with a couple of other unlikely words, I was very angry, and now my husband's boss says I'm the new Queen of Vulgarity and her hero. (I can't really believe I'm the first to say it)
