have just finished watching this ,have seen before but quite a long time ago. Well , I don't quite know what to say, which has got to be first for me. Horror Genre. not usually my sort of pic Competently made and performed with 2 glaring exceptions ..the special effects demons were dreadful and totally unnecessary , would have been better left to our imagination...and Kim Basinger was truly awful. Graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Wood, she must have had friends in high places to have got an Oscar. I would put her up there along side of James Franco Sienna Guillory Matthew Marsden (H.O.T)and most of the cast of Extreme Ops Roofie was still quite young but his beauty and talent shone .don't think I closed my mouth at all. His character Eric was a Satanist. He was evil but charming , you knew he was evil but still wanted to take him to take your hand and lead you down the slippery slope to Hell Quite a performance!!! Chocolate factor , hard to say , didn't eat much but it melted all down my arm. Anyone got a tip for getting choc out of a white linen shirt , bought at an exorbitant price on my hols

I remember watching this at the cinema, scared me so much. I have to agree with you about A, demons and B, Kim Basenger both totally unnecessary in my opinion. The head falling off made me jump so high that I am sure I left an imprint on the ceiling. Eric was very good and I would have joined his cult if he'd asked me (yum). I remember reading (or seeing) and interview of his about this film and he said how he explained to the little girl that he was going to have to be really mean and that he was not normally (and he hugged her afterwards) bless him.

I'm so glad to hear that dp - one of my main issues with this film was the child's involvement. I still question what the parents were thinking? Thank goodness for Rufus. I only hope he wasn't the only one with enough compassion and sense to explain things to the little girl. This is the only DVD/video of his that i haven't bought, but my (slightly) compulsive obsessive nature is going to make me buy it just so i've got everything that's actually available. I'll only ever watch Rufus's bits though because the rest of it is just poorly acted nonsense. (i often watch Rufus's bits, hehehehe )

Yes dippy you could see the gentleness as he was taking her back inside afterwards. And kerry, M.oB is beginning to complain about the fast increasing number of DVD's I am acquiring . I'll just have to be nicer to him

Oh Dear Me I felt so sorry for Him when He was left alone in the temple, surrounded by flames. Everyone managed to flow out from the building except of Him.. And His already dead shot body falling down in a crumpled heap on the floor, eyes wide open.. that was an unbearable sight for me

He was evil but charming , you knew he was evil but still wanted to take him to take your hand and lead you down the slippery slope to Hell I LOVE the way you stated that! ;D I agree with you...especially those unbelievably realistic demons (LOL)! It is totally worth watching for Rufus, but I can't say much for the other actors involved. Once again, he out-performs his co-stars.

Oh God, do I have to watch this again to comment? It's been quite a while. However, I do love Rufus. I love Rufus' films. And I love chewing the fat over films. But I don't know. It was pretty bad as films go, and it doesn't help that I'm not a fan of the genre. Shecreature wasn't so bad. Then agaain maybe it was but the period nostalgic bit appealed to me. Hmm...Bless This Child is how many minutes? Well, there's always Roofing, as has been mentioned previously (fast forwarding through a film only to watch Ruf's parts) That I can stand.

If you like creepy, you gotta see Shecreature. It's kind of a hoot. Also, though not horror, Victory definitely has it's creepy moments!

Just today I watched Bless the Child! (on TV - first i saw The Legend of Zorro on another TV Station... ) I saw the BTC years ago and it's still a bad movie, exept Rufus of course. He so wonderful spooky and I squeaked in fear and love at the same time.

Oh dear me. I can't even wait for the end of this movie to start talking about it. Bad doesn't even start to describe it. Cheesy, campy, and just plain bad. Stilted dialogue, horrible special effects and just all-around badness. Kim Basinger is the female equivalent of James Franco in her role. Atrociously wooden acting. And what's the deal with her being in the hospital for a major concussion and all she has is a little bit of gauze wrapped around her head?!? And then, when she escapes from the hospital she suddenly has a car? She's been riding the bus previously and now she has a car? Rufus, of course, was wonderfully reptilian and evil! What a totally and marvelously awful character! He plays the best bad boy ever! I could see me falling for his charms easily. The only thing that bothered me about Rufus was his old lopsided eyes. I know that's not completely politically correct on this board, but I much prefer watching Rufus since he got his eyes "fixed." It just seemed so very obvious in this role. It is just so distracting to me to see one eye more open than the other. I find it hard to concentrate on his performance when I'm busy comparing his eyes. Lastly, this movie reminded me of something an old friend told me. She was a student in the University of Texas Film School and she said that when crew members realized that a movie was going to be a real stinker, they would tell the producers to put a fake name in the credits for them. That way the really bad movies would never be linked to them. I wonder how many of the names on the credits (other than the main actors) were real!

Bought this movie recently on Amazon very cheaply as I want to acquire as much of Rufus' work as I can. This type of film is not what I would watch if Rufus had not be in it. Having said that I enjoyed the film. It kept my interest and I found I enjoyed it. It was entertaining, had a reasonable story and was very well done I thought. I liked Kim Basinger and I loved Jimmy Smitt. He is gorgeous. Also there was Rufus. I watched 'The Special Features' interviews with the actors and Rufus says that he likes this type of film if it is done well. He wanted to play a baddie and had waited for the right one. Kim Basinger said of Rufus. She thought he was very good looking and a lot of actors who were as good looking as him would not have wanted to do this part. She said she admired him for that. She said that he brought something to the film because he was so good looking and playing such an evil person. She also said she liked this type of film. I wasn't expecting to like this film but I found I did. I do agree about the little girl playing the part, but a lot of care of her was taken by the actors and the producer. I thought Rufus was really sweet with the little girl even when he was acting horrible. The way he hugged her and said sorry.
