am trying to get hold of " in a strange land" & " victory " can only find dvds in Region 1 format on Amazon UK
does anybody know if these will play on UK pc as we don't have a multi- region dvd player.

It should play on your computer. I have purchased DVD's that are Region 2 and it played on my PC.(in US) Also if you purchase a very cheap DVD player they usually play Regions 1 & 2. I know that sounds weird but it's true. I live in the US but I am a fan of a UK artist and I ordered DVDs' from the UK and they played on my DVD player that was very cheap but would not play on a Sony, or more expensive players.

Just be aware Fran that some PC's will only let you play other region DVD's for a short while (as happened to me with my Toshiba laptop). In the end, I made my DVD player and my laptop both region free players by downloading a program from the internet to make them region free permanently. The program cost me £5 a couple of years ago so was well worth it but I don't think my particular one is still available. There will be other programs available though I am sure. Just remember if the region 1 DVD's do not play, it may be worth looking at a downloadable program to change your DVD player and PC in to region free players.

Frannie, have you tried eBay? I got my copy from Spain via there - called En Una Tierra Salvaje, but the dialogue's in English.
