Yes, SF is quite lovely, especially during the winter when it rarely goes below 10 C, while the rest of the Nortern Hemisphere is freezing, and the best way to visit here is without a mortgage, kids and other responsibilities, since it's almost as expensive to live here as in the UK (my husband's from there, so we have first-hand experience with the costs). But all things considered, I'd rather be in London, where the "action" is, a.k.a. Ru. If I run into him in SF, I am pretty sure it will be a major miracle!

Thanks for that posted link Judy P Looks like the compliment to Rufus on his wonderful Charles II portrayal came from someone who really should know! I loved all the pictures of the historic/old buildings on her site. Could not seem to find The Darling Strumpet at amazon books uk, but there are an awful lot more books out there on Nell Gwyn than one would imagine. It sounds like the author-blogger has an interesting book in the works about Lady Jane and Charles II as well. Was a momentous occaision enough for him want it painted for posterity in any event.
