Cold in KY also, but not as bad as some people have it. I think it got to 1 degree last pm...had two dogs and a cat in our bed. Should get up to 40 mid week...a heat wave! My parents are heading MORE south later in the week for 2 months...not sure its much better there. My cousins pipes froze in Fla. I am usually ready for spring after the holidays!

You have my sympathies Frannie - hope this Monday morning brings open schools and driveable roads for you all!!!!
In terms of global warming, it's certainly hot in this neck of the woods!!! Adelaide in South Australia has just had it's 4th day in a row over 40C (104F) and Melbourne today recorded the hottest temp for 150 years of 43.6C (110.8F). We haven't been too hot in Perth lately, but they are forecasting 42C (107.6F) for Sunday.
But i won't complain because at least i don't keep slipping on the freaking icy footpaths!!!!

Although I want warmer weather, not that warm!
Things seem to be starting to thaw ever so slightly in my neck of the woods, thankfully - we didn't get the threatened heavy snow yesterday (although more is possible tomorrow and into Wednesday) and then the temps are supposed to rise at the end of the week. Hoo-blooming-ray!!

Nope you wouldnt want the sort of heat we have this week. It isnt unusual for Australia to be hot in the summer but our pollies are doing their damnedest to blow it up into a "Global Warming" event so they can tax us silly. I would much prefer the cold because you can wrap up and escape from it but there is no escape from a furnace except aircon (which we dont have)

M(o)B has just told me it's snowing heavily again. No school and no work again tomorrow. Police warnings about going out etc I know, I couldn't believe it this morning when I got up and saw that it had snowed again overnight! One of my sons had a school trip today so we were told to get to school early as the coach would be leaving at 8.30am so I left earlier than normal to ensure we got there on time and when we arrived the office staff casually announced that the coach wouldn't be leaving til 9.15am! To be honest I am now sick and tired of the snow and all the problems it is causing on the roads, with the schools and anywhere else, so bring on some warmer temperatures please!

It has been so interesting reading your first-hand accounts of your weather status. I had to add to this discussion because we here in Southern California are experiencing very rare rain and wind occurrences. Our weather men/women have explained all of this due to the El Nino affect. If you care to investigate you can "google" El Nino, too much for me to explain here. We have lived here for 22 yrs. and this past week's storm has sent record rain fall and hurricane winds. Last night our garbage containers (which were left out for pick-up this A.M.) were sent tumbling to the end of our street due to the rush of rain water and high winds. There have been numerous downed trees, flooding in and around our streets, even our freeways. This is very strange for our Southern CA. area. The worst flooding has been in the mountains and hillsides, especially where fires scorched the plants and trees down to the bare earth. Last night I heard that there was flooding in the hills around LA. Then I remembered that Rufus had rented a home in the Hollywood Hills area through I think December... Well, I don't know where he is now, in England or LA. I just hope that he is on safe high ground. Actually, my sister are on safe, high ground. He's more than welcome here... we will be more than happy to protect him from "the elements". I'll keep you all posted if/when he arrives for some TLC !!!!!!!!!!

I've been following all the storms in SoCal, spice. What a horrible mess! I hope you are still enjoying that safe high ground and that Rufus took you up on your offer...although I guess if he did we wouldn't be hearing from you for some time
