I have been on pins all this week, partly with excitement because my brand new dvd, IASL arrived but mostly because my 10 yr old daughter had her Grade 3 Ballet exam . She started class when she was 5 and she loves it ,loves any dance as I do ( I went to Ballet class too from 6 to 15 yrs ) Like me she will never be a second Darcy Bussell but there is a great difference between me and my Izzy. Exams and I was a bag of nerves but she sails through without a qualm. So today I took her to Barry Town Hall ( Yeah that's the one, Gavin and Stacey Barry)while she took her exam. Helped her change, put her hair up into a bun ,painted sweeping black eyeliner on her lovely eyes and sick with nerves watched her go in for her exam. Heard the familiar tinkle of the piano and systematically chewed my nails away and tore my hankie into shreds . She came out , I hugged her "Oh Mummy not in front of everybody." "How did you do ?" okay" and that was that . A fortnight before we get the results, okay , she knows she has passed , she's not bothered. But I am!!!! " why do you let it do this to you ?" M(oB) said when got home "It doesn't bother her and it's not as though she will ever be a professional..... " No ,she won't but it gives her grace, deportment, love of ballet ,music.and the theatre. So I will be tearing hankies to shreds and biting my nails for as long as she wants to go on
Just wanted to relieve my feelings a bit!!!!

Awww, Frannie.....{{{hugs}}} I hope all the angst will be worth it - I'm sure it will. Izzy sounds like a very confident little girl who's going to do Mummy proud. You're just going to have to have extra doses of Rufus to get you through the waiting period! ;D

I was the same whenever my daughter had to dance on stage, .(she started at 3 and has only just given up at 9) she was always very calm but I was a nervous wreck. I hate the fact that she has given it up and even though I asked her to think about it very carefully she still chose to give up. (but the 6 years is quite a long time I suppose) She now loves acting though, she is in her school drama club and her dancing does come useful in some parts (This month she is going to be performing in the Nutcracker) Frannie I hope Izzy continues to enjoy her dancing and hopefully your nails don't suffer to much

That's true Frannie!!! I can safely say we have not a single scarf in our house - but that's because it's so freaking hot here most of the time that we'd spontaneously combust if we wore one.
Good on Isabele though - do you remember being young and confident and sailing through life??? Not a care in the world except ballet & pizza and glitter scarves. Give her a big hug from me!!!
