Thanks for your help Ruefuel have followed your directions exactly but with no results . The url changed but that little red cross just won't go away.
This has happened before and the atavar reappeared eventually by itself

Hmmm, not sure why that would be. If you right-side click on the red x above in your avatar box, it still shows the link to be to an imageshack file that seems to be gone (I'm assuming it's not your imageshack account).
The link I put above was just a link to the same picture on the roofsewell site. After you pasted the link I gave, did you click the button "modify profile" on the lower left hand part of the Profile page to save it?

Guys, anyone who had avatars from roofsewell.com, will need to upload their avatars on tinypic.com or imageshack.com or photobucket.com or something similar.

I was modifying my profile and accidently deleted my account. Reestablished a new one which is why I am back to rookie status. I am still looking for a new avatar. Anyone got any ideas on where to find "Charmin Charlie"?

Hi, Pitzel! How nice to see you! I hope you're well.
I'm assuming that if someone has posted an avatar in that thread, she is willing it share it with others. If you're worried about that, maybe send a PM to the creator. To get the url for the picture you want, right click it, and go to Properties. Copy the Address (url), making sure you get the whole thing (usually ends in .jpg or .gif).
Go to your own profile (the link is at the top of the page, under the P in Rooftop). Click Modify Profile, and paste link in the box for Avatar URL. Click Modify Profile at the bottom of the page, and it should be ok. This will also work with any other Rufus photo that allows hot linking--just copy the URL and paste it. Sometimes you have to play with the width and height with normal pictures to get the proportions right, but if you're copying someone's avatar, it's probably already ok.
Keep in mind, that if the person who posted this avatar ever removes the picture from their photobucket or whatever account they are keeping it in, you will lose the picture. So if you have a photobucket account, you might want to save a copy there under your own file name. If you do that, then copy and paste that URL link instead of the original.
