As you may know I am not an 11 hr enthusiast. and I am sure you all know the reasons so this story may amuse you. I have watched both runs of the series on tv and have it recorded on my box Having altered my dvd player to multi region , I decided to order the DVD series from the US at the exorbitant amount of $49.95 ( £ 42.82)+postage and packing . I did not consult M(o)B about this . I do not usually consult him about my Roofie purchases. He normally shows no interest. However yesterday I came home later than him to find him waving a piece of paper at me and steam coming out of his ears. "What" he demanded " have you been buying that needs £14.92 Customs duty?" Now I have bought 3 dvds from Canada that required no duty so you may say I was a bit surprised . You may be glad to learn that I eventually managed to sweet talk M(o)B around ... by giving him the £14.92. ( and no! he doesn't know about the £ 42.84, but that's another story.) You may laugh. All I can say is ..... Roofie-baby , just remember I love you £57.74 plus postage and packaging and you owe me big time!!!!!

I am laughing!!! Makes me feel better about all my purchases!! But frannie, it is worth it. Worth every cent in my opinion. I'd seen it on TV and had it recorded on my box, but the DVD is so, so much better. The stories flow much more smoothly without commercial breaks and the picture & sound quality seem better as well, even though it was originally broadcast in digital. And once you accept Rufus as Jacob, you begin to see what a wonderful job he did playing him. He brings a deftness of touch, a sense of humour and a humanity to a character that could have been played so terribly, terribly badly by anyone else. I still wince at the line "I'm Jacob Hood, I'm a scientist" along with a few others, some of the storylines are a bit convoluted, and i still don't like the over intrusive lighting, but i do love Jacob. He is impossibly, impossibly gorgeous, and the loving closeups of his face and eyes and hands, make me believe that that the director of photography thought so too (as i'm beginning to believe they all do because, well, he is!!!) Just concentrate on Jacob, as i do, and you will soon begin to see Eleventh Hour in a whole new light. Believe me

LOL, Frannie! Husbands are so difficult sometimes. My answer probably would have been, "Oh, now the surprise is RUINED! Please don't even think about it again until your birthday" (or Father's Day, whichever was closest). So I'm dying to know if you told him what exactly it was that you purchased, or if you just soothed him by handing him £14.92 and a beer.
Incidentally, 1492 being the year that Columbus set foot in the New World, and that being the custom's duty for a purchase from the US, has got to mean something. Maybe you should play those numbers in the lottery this weekend.

If you must know how I did it.... it was, as I said , sweet talk, giving him the money and a subtle form of blackmail. ( Sailing is M(o)B 's thing and co-incidentally the invoice for his mooring fees arrived earlier this week... £172. ) Didn't have a leg to stand on, did he? ? Still I was very sweet about it when he backed down . Never know when you are going to need a bit a ammo , do you??

Hi there hippinschick!!! Is this your first post? If so you should go and start yourself a new members thread and introduce yourself properly. We always like meeting new people!!! In regards to your Eleventh Hour problem, my advice is to buy from a seller via Amazon.com - the sellers there will ship overseas which is how i bought my copy. Just make sure you purchase from one of the one's who offer both domestic and international shipping. Here's a link for you: www.amazon.com/Eleventh-Hour-Complete-Rufus-Sewell/dp/B002U1FFDE/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1274715613&sr=8-5Just click on "Available from these sellers" It will be a US version (as all copies of EH are) so you'll need a multi-region DVD player. You'll love it ;D

Has anyone come across npczone before ? They appear to be offering bargain Eleventh Hour boxed sets. Appears too good to be true. Not sure that I trust it. Don't trust it, Nell. Here is what Stephen Gallagher (who created EH) wrote on his blog about these DVDs (you'll see the picture on the cover in his blog is the same as the picture on the cover shown on the npczone website, which I think is not the cover on the WB set). Here's his full blog post brooligan.blogspot.com/2010/03/bootleg-corner_24.html
