I keep listening to that voice-over at the end, I don't think it is Rufus. Might be, though.

So I have completely gone over the edge on this. I emailed Tamden to find out what is going on. After they get over the disbelief they might actually answer me before July 23.

Hi gang,
I'm casting my vote as yes, that is his voice at the end.
Anyone in the UK watch Doctor Who last night? Tony Curran, who plays the king in Pillars, played Vincent Van Gogh. Striking resemblance when they got him all kitted out.

Starz has updated their website of The Pillars. They now have icons of the actors, wallpapers... etc. They also have biographies of the actors. HERE is Rufus'!

That's a nice bio. Now all I need to make it more complete is more clarity about how often and when he appears. And I vote that it is his voice.

I have no doubt that Rufus will have a prominent participation on this series. At least from for the time he is in the story. Remember that at the beginning the book is almost all dedicated to Tom Builder and his family. That connection needs to be made so that the rest of the story makes sense since after all, it is through Tom Builder that we meet key characters of the story: Jack, Ellen, etc.
Agree that during the promotion they are placing too much emphasis in the fame of McShane. Although Waleran is a very important character, I don't see the reason why put him as the MAIN character. Although I like McShane very much and he is impeccable in all what he does it is strange that they have not realized that the ones that are making the most promotion to this series are not precisely the fans of McShane.
And about the girl that says that Rufus is not beefy enough. Have she seen the arms that stick out from the sleeves of Tom Builder robe?

The marketers who do the promotion of a series or movie often are not really connected to the people doing the actual production--these are the same types of people who tried to promote Vinyan as a horror movie. So I think that no matter what the marketing focus, Tom Builder will still be an integral character. Ken Follett seems pleased with what he's seen. I don't think it's Rufus's voice at the end of the promo. I think it's Eddie Redmayne, who plays his stepson Jack. Here's a video clip of Eddie. www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEZJuv_48Qw

I looked at all the previews again and something struck me as being a little off. It's been a while since I've read the book but wasn't Ellen a major character through out the whole book? Yet she's not given any credit in the previews. Her glimpses are fewer than Tom's. IMDB has her listed for all 8 episodes, which I would expect. Jack was a major character too and he's given credit and we see a lot of him in the previews.
I so hope the producers have not changed this story so much that it will be unrecognizable. I'm beginning to get a sense of dread that this isn't going to be the story we've all read and enjoyed.
