As soon as I saw this topic, I thought HEATHCLIFFE (Wuthering Heights).
Also i'd like to see him play Jekyll & Hyde. His acting talent and abilities would be awesome for this role.
Snape (Harry Potter) has been suggested also. My son has never been that keen on Alan Rickman in the part. When I suggested Rufus for the part he thought he's be good.
However, he did quip that Rufus could also be cast as Mad-Eye-Moody!!!! Needless to say I have since had the locks changed on the house!!!!!

I would like him to play all the parts mentioned above. Especially the medieval welsh hero with the dark curly good looks, also A Town Like Alice, yes, but also would like him to star in a big well written upmarket romantic comedy, on the lines of a Cary Grant in the 40's or Rock Hudson in the 60's with a really good female co-star!! I think he need to do some more comedy.

I could imagine Rufus to be a participant in the show 'Let's Dance'... Don't know if he likes to dance, but I do. And I would like to see him move his body to the rhythm... Hot music, seducing dance and a smiling Rufus - that would be a winning combination for me.

I don't think he'd really do that (well, you never know ...) - but that would certainly make me watch the show although I don't like it too much in general

Rufus told in the Making Of "Legend of Zorro", that he doesn't like dancing.... during drama school he tried to skip dancing ....

I really agree with you! He is marvellous at that sort thing. But what's wrong with dancing? I love it ..the trick is not to care what others may think. Dancing as exercise is very uplifting. Rufus must have a good sense of rhythym to be a drummer ( even a competent 13 year old drummer ;D ) so I'm sure he could dance if he wanted to.

I'm currently reading Ken Follett's new book, "Fall of Giants". There is a Welsh earl whose description suits Rufus to a T - black hair, strikingly green eyes, chiselled cheekbones, well-built and obviously gorgeous He's just a little too young at the moment but that may change in time

kmk - I'M totally with you.. finished the book "Fall of Giants" few weeks ago.... yes, I have had the same thoughts like you with the Welsh Earl.
Same like on the book "World Without End", which is the succession book of "Pillars", but 200 years later.... played in Kingsbridge again... there's is a woman, she's from Tom Builder, with green eyes and black hair and she has children... years later the kids are adults.
But, in this book are few very good charactars which Rufus could play. I have heard that this book is to be made into a movie ... truly hope so...
Another very good book is "A Place Called Freedom" - written by Ken Folett, too, in Scotland 1767..
I think, we all have so many ideas what Rufus could play ..... yes, at the moment Rufus is just too young for playing the Earl, but he's young enough and very very good-looking for playing younger characters as he is.

Many years ago I saw a wonderful film called Butterflies Are Free. A 1972 film based on a play by Leonard Gershe. Don Baker was born blind and has lived all his life with his mother . When the Fletcher family moved near his house, he meets their daughter Linda Fletcher. Linda takes Don out to parties and fills him with confidence. She talks him into moving out of his mother's house and having his own apartment. She even finds an apartment for him. She tells Don that he can become a musician. But after Don moves into his new apartment, Linda meets a guy from a party and goes to live with him in Mexico. Don finds himself all alone. He has made a contract that his mother will not come to see him for at least two months. One month has passed. This is when Jill Tanner moves in an apartment next door to Don. She listens to Don talking to his mother over the phone and turns on the radio. When Don asks her to turn the volume down, she invites herself over for a cup of coffee. They start talking and find each other friendly. Jill does not realize that Don is blind, until she sees him dropping his cigarette ash on the table. Jill has never met a blind man before, so she asks all sorts of questions about how Don manages everyday chores. She tells Don that her favorite quote is from Mark Twain : "I only ask to be free. The butterflies are free. Mankind will surely not deny to Harold Skimpole what it concedes to the butterflies." Don corrects her that actually this is a quote from the Bleak House by Charles Dickens. Don makes up a song and starts to sing Butterflies are free on his guitar. Jill takes Don out for shopping to find better fitting clothes for an aspiring musician. They have dinner together and later spent the night together in Don's bed. In the morning, Don's mother, Mrs. Baker, gives Don a surprise visit. Mrs. Baker sees that Don has attached himself to Jill. She fears that Jill will break Don's heart just like Linda did. She takes Jill out for a lunch and tries to talk her out of Don's life. Jill has strong feelings for Don and tells Mrs. Baker that if there is someone who should get out of Don's life, it's her (his mother). However, Jill herself has problems making a commitment, and when she starts to fall for Don, she begins to look for ways to end the growing relationship. She makes a dinner date with Don, for which she appears over three hours late with another man, Ralph . She announces that she is moving in with Ralph who is director of a play in which she'll be acting. This breaks Don's heart and he gets ready to go home with his mother. Mrs. Baker, who had been telling Don to come back home, makes an about-face and starts telling him not to come home and to face life's challenges. Mrs. Baker leaves. Soon after, Jill departs. Don is shattered and trips over the sofa. Sitting on the floor, he puts his head down on the table in despair. This is when he hears someone opening the door of the apartment. Jill walks in and asks Don what he's doing on the floor. Don says, "I was just about to have a picnic." Jill asks, "Without me?" Don answers, "I didn't know I had a choice." The picture ends with the two embracing. It is a beautiful film, funny and touching. Rufus would be perfect as Don Baker and Rachel Weiss as Jill. So he has a choice as a play or film.. Perfect perfect part.

ophelia, Oh yes, that would be a lovely film for Rufus to be in. I would like him to play someone like Don very much. lindragon, Totally agree, he has the talent and the looks and the charisma to be in a really big high profile romantic/comedy or just good story with a romance. He danced with Maya Stange when he starred in 'In a Savage Land' and I thought that scene was really really lovely. I would love to see him dance with his lover in a film.

Ophelia, that sounds great. Generally I'd love him to play a musician some time
