I think I'd like the USA to claim Autolycus.

I'd say Giles, or Tom, or just any one of them will do really! Probably Giles though, seeing how no-one's staked a claim to him yet.

I was thinking about the elegant uniform Rufus wears in TMITHC and a thought occurred to me. Do you know the old saying 'the devil has all the best tunes'? and i realised that relating to Rufus , that saying could be bent a little >>> The baddies have all the best clothes.
BADDIES .................................... ......................GOODIES
John Smith >>>TMITHC ............................................ Tom Builder >>> TPOTE Adam>>>>>>>>ALVH ........................................ .......Giles .>>> TW Lucas Romer >>R ..................................................... Petruchio>>>>>TOTS... well sort of good . Prince Leopold>>T I ...................................................Thomas Clarkson>>AG Armand>>>>>>.LOZ ....................................................Paul >>>>>>>>>V Adhemar>>>>>>AKT................................................... Mick>>>>>>>>>>IASL Fortinbras>>>>>>Hamlet............................................ Frank>>>>>>>>>>MMF etc. Agamemnon>>>>HOT ................................................Autolykus >>>>>>>H ... again ,sort of good
if you can think of others please add them.
But there are exceptions to every rule my favourite exceptions are the heavenly goodie. Zen and the naughty naughty baddie Martin (Victory.)

I've never really given the costumes much thought...it's more the man under the clothes that grabs my eye. *Ahem* Anyway, seeing how you've mentioned it; Some of his bad guys do seem to have the better costumes. Bad guys must have a better dress sense than the good, or more money to spend on ostentatious outfits! Compare Agamemnon with Autolycus, as they're both Ancient Greek figures, and I'd choose Agamemnon. There's too many drapes & folds to the rough fabric of Autolycus' clothes, although he still looks good, whereas - because he's a king - Agamemnon dresses in the Ancient Greek equivalent of finery. Romer (Restless) compared with Felix (Hotel Noir), and Romer just gets the upper-hand (if he shaved off that 'tache, he'd do a little better). Can't beat a man in a three-piece suit. Again, the facial hair styling is a problem for me with Crown Prince Leopold, but his dress sense? ! Military uniform seems to make a man irresistible too; Leopold, Obergruppenfuhrer Smith, and his character from the little-known sci-fi short Rise. Period costume works too, such as with Adam and Adhemar. Armand falls short here though, as there's something about his frou-frou sense that doesn't sit right with me. He's almost too groomed. Look at me, I'm turning this into an essay! There are also some of the neutral characters, those who aren't expressly good or bad in their films; Robbie (A Man of No Importance), Dominique (Illuminata), Will Ladislaw (Middlemarch), and I'd personally put Fortinbras under this category too. He's not the villain in Hamlet, as that's Hamlet's uncle Claudius in my opinion, but he's another military man (though not quite as handsome as some of the others - he's almost got a resemblance to a young Tim Curry in some shots). Anyway, there's my apparent essay - to say I don't often pay attention to costumes...

Good point Frannie, maybe it's because the baddies Rufus plays are generally highly ranked people (Romer definitely upperclass, Aggie the King, etc.) and those people have access to better clothes. As AL points out the differences between the garb of an ancient Greek king and an ancient Greek mercenary.
I'd definitely put Will Ladislaw in the goodie category rather than neutral. He may be a bit mischievous, but when all is said and done he is quite honorable in his dealings with Dorothy. His costumes are superb, love the red frock coat. But I have to agree with Frannie, with the exception of Zen, most of the good guys Rufus has played are rumpled, casually dressed men. An AL - totally agree, there is something about a man in uniform!
Oh, and Frannie, you can whisper all you want, but Jacob Hood belongs to the US. You Brits will have to make do with Ian Hood.

That's a beautiful find, Frannie. I didn't know that one. As for the citizenship question ... Frannie already snaffled Mick (and well, to be honest, I'd have trouble to come up with any reason why he should be happy with German citizenship, considering that IASL was a WW II piece!) Will Ladislaw maybe - perhaps he wanted to go back to Poland to do some research on his ancestors and got stuck in the lovely northwest of Bavaria?! Interesting theory about baddies and their clothes. There is indeed a tendency of Rufus's baddies to be dressed smarter than the good guys he played. But there are also Zen and Felix's classical suits, the period clothes of Septimus Hodge, Will and Giles (I thought he looked adorable in his good suit), and I loved that white tunic at the end of "Illuminata"! As for the uniforms - Rufus playing a good guy in uniform would probably kill me on the spot.

Wonderful find, Frannie! They've beautifully tied the song with Giles' sacrifice for Grace...would someone kindly pass the tissues? You see, this is why I prefer it when he's plays the bad guys and they die. Good guys like Tom & Giles don't deserve to die...bad guys like Count Armand & Parker kinda do. Poor Giles; the things we do for love...seriously, where are the tissues? Going back to the whole citizenship thing, Giles is a British citizen - like Tom - so should remain in England, but citizenship can be changed. As an example, Jacob could seek to be a resident in Britain. So could Agamemnon. Whilst Giles, for all we know, could want warmer climes after the hardships he's faced with the miserable British weather! In that case, I'd trade Giles for Agamemnon...hold on, maybe not. Giles might not fare all that well in Ancient Greece; a gentle soul like him, he needs to be protected.

You are right AL. Best to share them all..haha!
Yes, it is very sad to see the good guys die. Tom and Giles especially difficult. I vote for more good guy roles in which his character gets to live. May be boring but I don't care. Still hoping for that romantic comedy!
