Just started watching the Baby Rufus in this (thanks, ebay!) - haven't got to the bum scene yet ( ), but I have reached the song scene - the boy can sing! Really nice voice, too...my goodness, he's young in this, but those cheekbones are oh-so-chiselled. What a gem!

Your just saying that to make me jealous, huh! Can you give me some details, GE2. Is it really worth $80 to have my PAL copy converted? Convince me girl! ;D

I'm trying to get a copy of this on E-bay but the seller isn't answering his emails.. did you get in on DVD or VHS?

I've been looking for a copy also but have never found anything but PAL VHS. Has it even been released on DVD? I can't find anything for Citizen Locke either.

Same here, can't find it for the US VHS players. I've just purchased (online) a region-free DVD player (an early Christmas present to myself!!) and am about to purchase the Shakespeare Retold DVD and the Charles II DVD. But I don't have a PAL VHS player and I can't find "Gone to Seed" in DVD to buy.
Anyone know of a way to get this for those of us in the US?

Creach/pattirose/Michelle
I think this was only released on video, and is now deleted - but it seems to come up on ebay quite regularly, so keep trying (I had it on a "favourite search", although that also brings up t-shirts!
And Britfan....well, all I can say to convince you (bearing in mind it's easy for all sense of proportion to fly out the window where Ru is concerned) (or is that just me?) is that if you want to hear him sing and want to see his bare bum, only you can decide if the conversion fee is worth it!!!
Although he looks very young, he also looks rather...delectable (and plays Peter Cook's son!).
The series itself isn't the greatest, and without Rufus it wouldn't be worth seeing, IMHO.
And, gosh, hasn't he worked with some big names over the years...?

So this is a series? Not a film? How much of it is available to see? I will check ebay immediately!!
Thanks, GE2! Michelle

It's 6 one hour episodes but presented together on two VHS videos. Did I gloatingly mention that I got mine for 99p on ebay a couple of months ago? Cost me about L8 to send it over here airmail though, from memory!

Over the past few years, I mistakenly bought two PAL VHS tapes of Gone To Seed that I could not view. I actually thought that in the future I would go to Engalnd and bring the copy with me to watch - and then leave??? - I don't think I ever thought that far into the future on this fantasy trip.
However, I did find a site on the internet that claimed to transfer from PAL VHS to NTSC DVD. I paid $65 including postage/handling and received all back including the VHS tapes within a two week period. Talk about an early Christmas present!
I totally enjoy it. I think the quality of the DVD is fine but it is an old/used VHS. Maybe fine for me is low quality for someone else. There are no cracks, breaks, cuts in the viewing. The picture is clear and the sound is fine. I think I got my moneys' worth.

grrrrrrrrr. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to lay hands on this thing and it's just elusive. It keeps slipping through my fingers.;( The search continues. In the mean time, go ahead, rub it in, quoll. And you always looked like such a nice friendly little critter... lol!

I'm sure eventually we will all get this on DVD. Does anyone know who owns the rights to it and Citizen Locke and Henry IV??? Maybe we could start writing letters and emails to speed this process up? Are they all BBC productions?

I just love baby Roof in this. I'm capping it today and haven't watched it in a while. If you haven't seen it, get it and watch it. It will make you smile with so many wonderful performances-- the bare arse not withstanding.
