I like Psycological Thrillers so even if this isn't really one of the best I might enjoy it anyway. I just don't like gory so I hope the Bum scene isn' too bad. I LOL about FriarPK's comment on the accent because Bassingers real accent is sooo thick.

Ree, I didn't find this movie the least bit gory. Well one little part but it was more shocking than gory. The bum scene wasn't gory at all. I'm not a Kim Bassinger fan but Jimmy Smits and Ruf and the little girl make up for her lackluster performance. She's just soooo very white bread.

It is on telly tonight. After reading all this post I do not have high hopes... but I will watch it of course!

It's going to be on telly in Aus at the weekend too. Not one of my favourites but it will be on ch 7 on Saturday night, after Judge John Deed if there are any lurking Aussies on board. It conflicts with the wonderful Foyles War being repeated on the ABC but with judicious recording nothing will be lost!

OMG, I've watch this film several days ago on youku... the way Eric Stark smiled at Maggie during her persuasions to let Cody go (the first time she came to their house) oh, Christ, it brought chills down my spine.. it really freaked me out And another scene, in the temple, when Meg all of a sudden stabbed him in the stomach with a knife, and few minutes later he was shown pulling it out painful grimace contorting his face .. Geeeseee.. It was horribleee. Ok, guys, you may laugh at me, and call me a histeric, but honestly, such scenes always have quite a freaking impact on me..I really had troubles with falling asleep that night.. Nevertheless I was really impressed with the way Rufus acted.. .. he was both frightening and alluring in this role. (dunno why! but I really loved it when he was screeeeaming, his eyes filled with anger) I know I'm odd, as all of you may have already noticed.. but sometimes I simply feel this urge to share my emotions.........

This is one of his movies I haven't seen yet. According to tv-now, it's on the TMCe channel at 9:00 PM ET this coming Saturday night (8:00 my time). And again at 12:20 AM Sunday morning. www.tv-now.com/stars/rsewell.htmlFrom reading this thread it sounds like an OK movie but not one of Rufus's best. That's OK. It has Rufus in it. That's enough for me to block out my Saturday night!!!

Well i've seen Rufus die twice today and the second time i was glad because it meant that this excruciatingly awful piece of garbage was almost finished.
Rufus played his role with evil and charm as only he can & looked very handsome in the process. His delivery of the line "thou shalt not kill" was delicious. Aside from that however, i'm left thinking that this was two hours of my life that i will never get back.
And i do wonder about parents who let their children appear in films like this. Sorry, but it just wasn't my cup of tea at all.

I may not watch it Saturday night. I've read terrible reviews about it. Rufus has an american accent which, although he does well, I love his natural accent best. Plus, I believe I read a posting from rai that Rufus said himself that it was a terrible movie (I may be wrong about this...forgive me, rai and Rufus!). So I may peak at it from time to time, just to get my green-eyes fix. Plus the hubby promised to take me to dinner Saturday night. Reality vs Fantasy... ummm...hard to choose between sometimes!

MAJOR, MAJOR SPOILERS.......
Ok, I couldn't resist. But I only got to watch the last hour. I watched it from the point where Maggie got chloroformed in Eric's house. The movie wasn't that bad, but it wasn't that good either. Rufus's acting was good, as usual. Hubby liked the special effects, but that's all it takes to make him like a movie! Since I missed the first half, I take it Cody had Christ-like powers? I kept wondering when Cody was gonna take care of Eric big time. All Christians believe that although Satan is very powerful, Christ is more powerful. She should have taken care of him big time. But all she could do was rattle dishes and hug people to health? Definitely my least favorite Rufus movie so far.

dear me, Wichi!!! The same thought haunted me after seeing this movie. Exactly! If she was that powerful, if she was supposed to be such a loving, tender, sensitive child, gifted with super - natural forces, why on earth should she have saved her warm feelings and compassion towards her nearest family and goodies? why wouldn't she have been able to take care of Eric, as you say, to drag him off the wrong path, to convert the man? Because there was no chance for him? Nah, I don't think so! God loves ALL people, he gives the chance to everybody, he desires our salvation more than we do! Sorry, but with such an interpretation of Christianity and Christian Religion this film absolutely didn't won me over.

Hmmm. I have my DVR programmed to record Bless the Child sometime in the next few days because I've never seen it. It's not the type of movie I usually enjoy, and given what you all have said about it ... I'll give it a shot and see how it goes. I could simply fast-forward through all non-Rufus scenes. That might make it a whole lot better!

This movie played several times for the last couple of weeks on FIOS, caught it last Saturday and I truly wished that he played it in his natural voice. Ever notice when he plays an American how his face changes??? Found that a bit frustrating whilst watching EH and again with BTC. He was truly scary and ice cold, those looks he gave to Bassinger were chilling to say the least. As usual he was bettter than the material given to him. Liked Smits as well. Bassinger was a blank canvas. I find her incredibly boring to watch without exception. I can't think of any singer performance of hers that made a lasting impression on me, save for The Natural, but then again look who she had as her costars. Still the movie as a whole is not as bad as what I've read.
