Thanks, Wichi! Even though I have it on DVR, I've been rewatching on Starz this week.
Last night was the Episode That Shall Not Be Named, but I watched all the great Rufus scenes--the writer gave him a ton to do that episode--and then shut the TV off as Tom and Jonathan left the tower. So now, in my head, Tom treated the raid like we do potential tornados, and hustled everyone into the basement with snacks, flashlights, books, ipods, and a battery-powered radio. They'll come back upstairs when Prior Philp sounds the all-clear.

They'll come back upstairs when Prior Philp sounds the all-clear. Awww, poor Philip - you left him up there all by himself?!

Try to get Alfred on watch duty and take Prior Philip along into the shelter!

Awww, poor Philip - you left him up there all by himself?! Man of God, and all that. He'll be safe! ;D Try to get Alfred on watch duty and take Prior Philip along into the shelter! I'm afraid stupid Alfred would just get drunk while he waited! But since you're all so worried about Philip, I can put some random, unknown, unwashed swine herder on duty. I hope you're willing to bear responsibility if he gets carried away like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz!

I'm afraid stupid Alfred would just get drunk while he waited! Argh, yes, I didn't consider that. The swine herder is just fine.

I'm not sure the swine herder will think so, but it's done!

LOL! I love your re-interpretation, Rueful! So does this mean I can finally watch the last three episodes?

Well, I wouldn't recommend watching the first 10 minutes of episode 6, but after that you should be safe. Just remember that for the rest of the series, Tom is at Home Depot* picking up building supplies. *When Rueful Jr. was little, she would sometimes ask where Cinderella's "real mother" was. The answer she was always given: "Shopping."

Rueful , Wonderful!!! That is what I will keep telling myself. Tom has just gone to the Quarry, or the timber yard or even has just slipped down to the cave for a " rest " . What do these writers know anyway?

In the book... ***Don't continue if you haven't read it yet*** .....remember Jonathan reappears as an adult at Phillip's trial, to prove he wasn't his son? Someone comments that with a beard, he'd look the image of Tom. I was hoping they'd keep that in and have Rufus play Jonathan - he was around 35 in the book when he reappeared, so Rufus could easily have played it. But they were spoilsports instead!
