Trust me to pick a duff one hey ! I felt like one of those spies in the movies where the book self destructs once read. Although this one self destructed before I'd finished. LOL. I hope I have better luck with the last 3 when they arrive.

LOL! Sorry that happened to you Nell. When I bought my used copies some were published by different publishers (probably reprints), so maybe that's where the quality varies. Also, if you order used books on amazon, they always make a distinction between "paperbacks" and "mass market paperbacks," which are cheaper and I think more cheaply made. Anyway, I hope the next ones are better for you. I was really sorry to see the series end. Maybe Numbat can take on the further adventures of Aurelio in her spare time

Interesting. Aurelio Zen's imdb page title has now been changed to just "Zen". A new actor has been added for the part of "Fellini". www.imdb.com/title/tt1618371/

Interesting indeed ! Strange I don't remember a character called Fellini. Funny that a guy called Enzo Squillino should have been born somewhere as exotic as Sheffield LOL ! I wonder if he'll play the Sicillian.

I just finished watching both seasons of Wallander, brought to you by the same team doing Zen. As Rufus said, everyone will speak with their own accents, even though it all takes place in Italy. With Wallander, it takes place in Sweden, everyone's name is Swedish and even written things like postcards are in Swedish, but Wallander reads what it says in English. Very clever and it works! So I'm interested to see how it goes with Zen. I highly recommend Wallander for contrasting and comparing, plus it's very classy & Ken Branagh does a brilliant job. It was so successful they made a second series. This could happen with Zen if all goes to plan! Rai

I agree Rai, i really enjoyed Wallander and if Zen is like that it should be fantastic. When i first started watching it though, i wasn't aware of the Swedish/own accents thing and i spend the first episode thinking, this is a bit odd. They're speaking with english accents but it doesn't look like the UK - especially the police offices which looked like they were straight out of Ikea!!! After i googled it and worked it all out, it made perfect sense though. And when you think about it, it does avoid the "bad accent" thing - not that Rufus would do a bad one of course!!! ;D Mmmm, interesting

I just came form the ZEN siye. Can they please get a better picture of Rufus for God's sake there is no shortage. Who the devil does his publicity Do you mean the IMDB site, vmaciv? It's nothing to do with his publicity, it's just the default pic that IMDB uses. Anyway, a bit of news: just looked at the LeftBank Pictures site, and Zen has its own page now! Don't get too excited, not much there yet: www.leftbankpictures.co.uk/tv/zen/series-1.htmlBut it does say "images coming soon" and that it is currently shooting in Italy, so at least we have that confirmation - explains for sure why he's not out and about. Come on, location shooting awaited so we can see Rufus, please! Oh, and it says "series1", so maybe, just maybe........won't say it in case I jinx it!

Someone of you qualified girls could send an email to info@leftbankpictures.co.uk asking where in Rome it's shooting, where are the sets? I can't reach to know this info and here in Rome there are so many sets at moment that is very difficult finding out that one, it seems to be really secret, for us at least. Thanks!

They never bothered replying to my e-mail ages ago to ask when shooting began, and in any event I doubt very much they'd divulge those details, Dreamer.

Just finished Blood Rain. It has been so fun "seeing" Rufus as Zen while reading this series. Zen, I think, will be one of the more interesting characters Rufus has had the chance to play in quite a while. Aurelio has so many facets to his character, there is such a mystery and melancholy about him. He's intelligent, very observant of human nature, and cynical. He's a realist with a slightly wounded soul. He expresses a quiet yearning for deeper personal connections which often does battle with his equally strong urge to be left alone. A complex multifacetted character, what a great role for Rufus to sink his teeth into. Rufus' acting has just the deft talent for nuance the Zen character as written requires. One thing that concerns me, and I doubt I'm alone in this, is that Zen is a smoker and I wonder if Rufus will then have to be smoking again for the shoot. The positive to this is, as a former smoker, Rufus will be able to smoke, as Zen, convincingly. (Ever see an actor do a very poor job "smoking" in character? It can look ridiculous onscreen as they barely inhale/exhale and is bad movie-making when it's distractingly fake, diminishing the believability of the character.) I just hope for Rufus' sake if he has to smoke again for the role, it won't be too much of a b*tch for him to quit again. As a former smoker myself, I know how hard it can be. I am glad to know that he has friends who are experts in helping one quit if that's needed.

About the smoking...
Think that will be artistical freedom besides a changed awareness, I don't think they will make Rufus smoke again, unless he insists on it.
Anyway, looking forward to this serie.
