Something that bothers me about Zen. Repeatedly through the books, Aurelio is described as "Gaunt". I hope they are not going to "Skinny" our Rufus down ! He is lovely as he is!!!!

I'm surprised Aurelio is so gaunt considering the number of bars and cafes he visits!!

Ever the optimist I see Dibdin's description of gaunt as more like sculptured, chiseled cheek bones defined jawline etc all of which Rufus has in spades. I saw a description in one of the earlier books when Aurelio looked in the mirror and thought it had Rufus to a t. Except the eye colour which recall wasn't green and I think he'll get away with that I think the character could have been written for Rufus.
I did wonder about the smoking too - aren't we a bunch of whittlers ? LOL. Maybe the series will be brought up to date and the smoking taken out of the script. I hope so. They can not allow Rufus to polute his temple of a body with cigarette smoke surely !

Rufus certainly isn't gaunt, but after TPOTE he is certainly as sculptured and chiseled as he's ever been. And the shorter hair makes his bone structure even more defined. Zen has blue eyes in the book so i think the green will substitute just as well. I always felt that Dibdin's point was that as a Venetian, Aurelio had an unusual look, rather than the stereotypical big brown eyed Italian that we non Italians, typically associate with the region. I agree that i'd prefer not to see him smoking, <but he's very sexy when he smokes, it's the mouth, and the fingers, think of all the sexy screen caps.... > You be quiet, no one asked you for your opinion! But i do have to say, that particular temple is probably past redemption after what it's been through over the years, hahaha!!!

I agree Numbat. Rufus smoking as Zen on screen would be a very sexy thing to see, and is extremely in keeping with the Zen character as written. I just hope for Rufus' health sake he doesn't have to do it. But, if he has to do it for art's sake, well, I'm sure he'd do it with gusto. If indeed he does have to smoke again for the movie and needs help getting over it, well, I would happily volunteer as a temporary oral fixation for as long as needed 'till he was right as rain again. I'd even douse myself with eau de Nicorette if there is such a thing.

According to IMDB, Marco Pancrazi has been added to the cast of Zen. He has the part of "Coop" and is a stunt double. I googled him and it's not too hard to tell who he's a double for! Not near as handsome but close! (sorry, can't post a picture of him. I'm at work right now. Maybe tonight unless someone else can earlier!)

:owichi, judy - so fickle !!!! ;D Thanks germanlady. I the translation worked - I got the gist of it. One thing that made me laught was "Vengance, Nest of Mice and Kabalah" (Isn't the last one the craze Madonna was into ?) I listened to the interview too - loved the way she said Rufus Sewell !
