OK, I'm just going to come right out and be honest here, even though it will make me sound like a self obsessed, whinging b****!!!

I'm really, really excited for all of the UK girls who are going to be able to go and see this (and I am excited for you, really I am, don't get me wrong). But I'm very snakey that i'm stuck on the other side of the world and don't get to go to freaking ANYTHING that Rufus appears in.

And GE2 - I'm absolutely gobsmacked that you would be in London and not go. How could you not go, woman?

Sorry for my little head explosion, but you know how it is sometimes. I'm just annoyed that i live in the arse end of nowhere.

But please - anyone who can go - DO IT. For all of us that can't........

At least Rufus can pick up his birthday card while he's back in London. And it's wonderful that he has another new project that he's getting the opportunity to promote. I cannot WAIT to see Zen. I just think it's going to be a fantastic little series and another fabulous boost to his career.

But i want to go to the Q&A. I want to sit in the same room with him and watch him exist in the same world as me for a little while. Even if i never spoke to him, i'd just like to be there with him.

Anyway, I'm going somwhere quiet to sulk & feel sorry for myself for a while. Don't mind me. I'm just in a narkey mood. It's a very good place to be for writing (but not so good for posting......). Please don't feel you have to respond to my bout of self indulgence. I just needed to vent for myself and for all the others scattered around the world. I think this is why the birthday card project is so important to me, so we can all feel a part of his world. Just for a little while.

I need a Sunday afternoon martini.

Honestly, i'm very excited for whoever can go. Not only do you get to see Rufus but you'll see Zen before anyone else. What a treat!! I'm looking forward to the reports ;D

Hahahaha, i edited that post about 20 times GE2.

I know it's a shame if you can't go, but i got to the point of checking out $2,000 airfares!!! If you spend the day with your friends at the tennis, couldn't you duck off for a few hours in the evening? You don't need to go into full details of your Rufus obsession - just say that Dibdin is one of your favourite authors and you're really looking forward to Zen.

I'd just hate for you to miss him.

I very nearly missed this. Shock horror. I have just explained to hubby why I need to go to London 2 weekends on the trot. I have a pal that has been begging me to go shopping in London with her for ages. Hehehe I've booked tickets for us both. I hope she can come. But hubby bless him is on stand by just in case. Come hell or high water I will be there !!

BAFTA website makes it quite clear that these events are low key 'non celebrity' affairs for film lovers - so I dont think its like a premier style gig where autographs, general fawning are expected. I think the expected behaviour will be gentle admiration from a far without anybody noticing kind of vibe..... so dont think there will be lots of photo opportunities etc. Just a chance to see Zen early, find out what Rufus has to say about his experiences and hang about in the same physical space for a while - should be kind of cool !!!!

If anybody fancies this - I would get yer tickets booked - the venue dosnt look very big and tickets are free for BAFTA members - so I expect there are not many to go around.

Wouldn't it be cool if it turns out to be sort of like the Vinyan screening where Roof was just kind of standing around afterwards and there weren't huge crowds and photographers everywhere?

a Zen DVD is available for pre-order (amazon),

with January 24th, 2011 mentioned as release date....

Maybe it will be broadcast soon then, as they don't normally release the DVD before the programme has been shown. A Christmas present for us perhaps!!

Dang! Just checked and this is only on amazon.uk right now so I'm guessing it will be a region 2 DVD. I guess it won't be released on this side of the pond until after it is shown on PBS. I only hope that we get Zen in January.

I had kind of thought that myself Judy but I'm trying not to get my hopes up. Hubby will be joining me as my friend can't make it this time. I need to come up with a really good question just in case I am capable of stringing 2 words together on the night. I guess it should be a Zen based question though. Maybe the ladies that can't attend might like to make some question suggestions and I'll do my best ?

Next month Zen will surely join that first category. The TV adaptation of Michael Dibdin's acclaimed Aurelio Zen novels, Rufus Sewell's titular detective is, of course, beset by problems - the demands of his aged mother and ex-wife; his own middle-aged ennui, a neat line in underhand behaviour - and staggers around Italy uncovering one grizzly murder after another. It's being produced by the Wallander team. "I'm not playing some cool TV cop who dives down corridors," Sewell assures GQ. "He's very complicated. Not only does he have a checkered past, he's got a checkered future and a checkered present. He's got his ex-girlfriend, his ex-wife... a possible future relationship that is not necessarily going to have a happy ending. He may well land on his feet. But he hurts his feet when he lands." Towards the end of filming in Rome, Sewell found himself in a car with his make-up lady. A top-of-the-range Audi overtook them. "She said, 'Wouldn't it be nice if Zen had one of those?'"
