Thanks for the tip off. I now have the radio times . The article is on two pages, but you have to turn the page to see the second part. I was disappointed not to see a photo of Rufus on the second page, but noted there were 2 of a certain good looking lady!! I was certain then the article was written by a man (a straight one!) and I was right, as no-one else would miss the opportunity of lots of pics of the lovely Rufus ;D. Lassie x

:(Thank you so much for posting this Anniem! IMHO it's a very interesting interview and your post was my only chance to read it - living outside UK!

Thanks for posting this, Anniem. Was interesting to read about Ruf's loner comments and his last quote of "it might just be me being crap! But we can pretend it's cultural nuance." was very funny. He is so witty and honest. Gotta love that.

Don't know if this was posted somewhere, but my friend in Liverpool sent this from another issue of a Radio Times. Love the "smouldering like a day-old bonfire".
Rai
Rufus Sewell, sharp-suited and laughably handsome, smoulders like a day-old bonfire as Michael Dibdin's straight-down-the-line Italian detective, Aurelio Zen. Thank heavens he doesn't put on a carbonara-thick fake accent, because that would just be silly. Neither does anyone else in this languid tale of murder and corruption. The laconic, unknowable Zen - separated, living with his mother but with an eye for a comely lady - is dragged into murky waters by a government official after the killing of an influential fixer and his two prostitute companions. A suspect (Greg Wise) has confessed to the crimes, but he's now found God in prison and recanted. Which could be politically awkward though Zen, a model of probity, searches only for the truth. It's a dense tale (from the people who brought us Wallander and DCI Banks) that's occasionally hard to follow. Not that this matters too much, as there are so many lovely things to look at - sunny Italy and, of course, Sewell and his lustrous Italian co-star Caterina Murino.

Thank you to everyone for your very nice comments. Pleased you have the magazine now Lassie. I'm sure others in the UK will have it soon. Here is the TV Times interview: As they used to say on the BBC 'Other TV Guides are available'. The RT and TVT usually have the original articles and then the others are often very similar, quoting from the same press conference or press pack. They might have some different pictures. I'll give others a chance to post before I seek the mags out later in the week.

Thank you both for the articles. May have to get my hands on it via e bay or amazon. Love how everyone says he is more handsome in person. Probably a good thing for him we have never met. Not sure I make sense when I say this, but he always sounds happy but also frustrated about his career progression. Interesting what he said about The Holiday...wonder if he did The Tourist for the same reason.

Thanks, anniem! What great articles! It's nice that he seems like he's so happy about the show. Of course it's part of his job to say those things, but he does seem really pleased about this one. I laughed at the special mention of Zen keeping his hands in his pockets!! He probably asked them to make note of that so that we wouldn't complain about it. It's kind of ironic, when you see how fidgety he can be in interviews--he's naturally like the stereotypically depicted gesturing Italian, so I don't know why he's fighting it! I don't even know how to describe the pics, especially the one on the previous page. That's one of the most beautiful pics of Rufus I have ever seen, and he has certainly taken some beautiful pictures before! I've gone back to look at it about 10 times already.

I laughed at the special mention of Zen keeping his hands in his pockets!! I found that very funny, too - as he's got his hands in his pockets in just about 90% of all pictures Thanks for the articles, anniem!

That TV guide cover is also GORGEOUS! I'm really hopeful that this series will get the attention it deserves.
