I expect people were off celebrating with family and friends than being online, PGG! It probably had more to do with the Proboards servers being in the US and the time-zones being different - they were probably in maintenance mode in the middle of (their) night. Yes GE2 - you're right, ... I had the feel, everybody was online .... is wasn't only proboards... facebook was horrible the last days... and Twitter didn't work on these 3 celebration days ... here in Germany...

You could be right about the maintenance, GE2 - I had that "we're currently doing backup" message again this morning.

Anyone else having very slow page-loading, especially photos, today? I'm trying to figure out if it's a problem with the boards or my computer, since we had a sudden loss of power that shut my computer down this morning. Thanks.

I had some trouble with the pics in the John Adams thread yesterday. Strangely, all other threads with pictures worked fine.

I'm having trouble getting into any thread at all. I've got messages to read, but can't, and would like to get into games , and the fan'tasy film, no go. I'll try again later on.

I keep getting some loading error messages if I try to access the new postings on a thread via the "New" symbol, but if I click on the page numbers, it works ...

I've had a couple of problems loading pages this evening. Looking at the Proboards Support Board, there appear to have been a few issues over the last couple of days.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone (even if I'm replying a little belatedly!). I'm not always sure if it's actually a board problem or just my cheap, someday-destined-to-be-smashed-with-a-sledgehammer computer.
Things seem to be fine now, so I'm guessing I was just experiencing the same slowdown others did.

I'm getting a really bad delay in posting. I just went through some of the games, and none of my posts were shown. I've been refreshing the page each time and still nothing. One of my posts (after being refreshed multiple times) was then somehow posted twice (I'm hoping THIS post goes through!) Edited to add: well that caused no trouble. Maybe there's a glitch in the games section?

The slowness of this board drives me mad sometimes....but of course not the contents!

often when I try to open a thread lately, I get a blank page. I have to go back one or two pages and work my way forward to where I want to be. Of course, this is probably just my problem because, you know, COMPUTERS DO NOT LIKE ME!!!

Slow boards - it depends: sometimes there are no problems at all, sometimes I think I could fetch a cup of tea until the page loads, and sometimes I have to go back one or two pages and try again.....one never knows....

Don't worry, anglo, this is not only happening to you I keep having the same problems, especially at home when I'm using the Firefox browser.

These boards are very slow some times, but I recently discovered that I was also having a problem with one of my antivirus programs. It's so hard to balance safety with actually being able to use the internet. I wound up having to shut off all my security programs and then turning them back on one at a time to figure out which one was causing problems. The recent update to AVG's "Link Scanner" feature meant that I had to click twice every time I wanted to go to a link, and every page took forever to load. After some research, I decided to disable that feature but keep the rest, and it's been better since then. Hopefully my other programs will pick up the slack. I'm not recommending that step for anyone who uses AVG, but I just wanted to let you know that some of the slowness might also be due to security settings in your computer.
