ah dear fellow rufians, i had a miserable pc-less week. yes, the ol'puter is just back from the puter doctor. it so happens that i downloaded this program in order to view the british clips, this thing was supposed to supply me with a brit IP address, instead, it infected my brave pc with 3 viruses that left it totally IP-less! let us be clear _ i am NOT blaming anyone. we are all responsible for our actions, and also i pay a fortune yearly to get good protection for my computer, and then i dont use it when i should. other people used the program without a problem, so there you go.. i just wanted to remind you all to be prudent whenever you download something. use your anti-virus to scan the program before installing it. just a friendly reminder... to avoid you big painful bills from the puter doctor!|!!

Thanks for the warning, and I'm sorry to hear about your computer troubles.
I didn't get any viruses, but I did have to uninstall expat sheild so that my web browser would work right...I figure I will install it again to watch Cabal while I am off tomorrow and then uninstall it again.....
I wonder if it matters where you download it from?

Tipou, I'm so sorry that happened to you! How terrible to miss all the fun gabbing going on around here this week. I hope you have a region-free DVD player so you can at least order the Zen DVD from the UK and watch them soon.
Rumantic, congratulations on your new status! It's funny how those pots add up, isn't it?

Oh tip, sounds like you've been in the technology wars. You have my deepest sympathies on both counts. Sometimes life just sux, and when it gets in the way of Rufus, it double sux. Hope you get your money back or a new player. And i hope you can watch Zen on iplayer or elsewhere soon, my luv. He's just sensational. xx

Oh, how awful! *hug* Good to have you back, though. Two years ago our computer suddenly refused to do anything at all and nobody knew why - and it took us two months to get a new one. Luckily that was before Rufusitis struck

Hey Tip, I had a big problem with it, too. When I downloaded the program that, my very good anti-virus triggered alarm and disconnect my computer from the Internet. I called my beloved nephew, and he cleared my computer and found some advertising software and Trojan horses. Then he will install the program again and now it works fine. I didnĀ“t write it here because others have used it without problems, so I thought I made a mistake.

Oh Tip I'm sorry you've had such horrible hardware problems! And, Martina, I'm glad your nephew was able to rescue your system!
It's odd because I have had no problems installing or using Expat Shield on my desktop computer (running Windows 7).
But Windows XP might be a different story. Over the weekend, I tried to install it on my little laptop (running Windows XP). First attempt, it wouldn't install correctly, my computer froze up and I had to reboot. When I checked, it appeared that the program HAD installed, but wouldn't run. So I uninstalled it and tried a second time. For some reason it installed without any problem the second time and actually worked.
And I'm running AVG anti-virus/firewall software on both systems. Scans on both computers didn't show any spyware/adware/malware at all after installation.

I installed it - got Windows XP - but didn't do anything with the page that appears when connecting asking to install something further. And I disconnect immediately as I don't need it anymore. I found that it's acting weird if you connect first and open your browser next. No problem when you do it the other way round.
I'll give my pc an extra viruscheck though.

That's OK Judy, I have got XP and very sensitive anti-virus/firewall software and it was a problem.

Tip, I'm sorry to hear of your computer problems. If you do a Google search, I think you'll find there are several torrent sites with Zen.

So sorry for you ladies that have had problems with the ExpatShield. I have Windows 7 as Judy does and so far, so good, but I will uninstall after the last Zen episode just to make sure I don't get a virus. Hubby is a software engineer and has all sorts of antivirus software on the computers at home. Fingers crossed my luck will hold out until Sunday.
