I have Windows XP, Norton 360 installed, Google Chrome as my browser. No problems at all with the Expat Shield, thankfully. I turn it on when I need it, turn it off when I don't.
thanks again Judy

apparently there was an incompatibility problem with avast. whenever something concerning ip addresses was trying something, avast would just stop everything from coming in, including the internet trying to reach my old ip address.
SO MY PROBLEM WAS REALLY MY ANTI VIRUS, NOT VIRUSES !!!
now i am using the bell canada (pause for a mental national anthem) anti-virus, so maybe i will try again to install expat shield.
now that i know what to do to solve the problem.
SO I OFFICIALLY APOLOGIZE TO EXPAT SHIELD FOR INDIRECTLY ACCUSING IT OF ANY CRIMINAL OFFENCE ON MY PC. i do hope that expat shield will not hold it against me.
still... a bell canada (once a gain standing up with hand over heart) technician nicely reminded me, over the phone, that you should always use your anti-virus to scan a newly downloaded program, just in case.
ahhhhhh technology and me are definitely two entirely different entities.
