robela said: I have watched them all now but alas I have lost my remote control for my DVD player so cannot play the extras which is so annoying.
Robela, can you try watching the DVD on your computer? I first watched TOTS on my DVD player/TV and didn't get any subtitles, but when I watched on my Mac, I got subtitles (very surprised!) and was finally able to get all the dialog. LOTS of British slang in it, no wonder it was hard for me to catch it all, little ol' Midwestern girl that I am...

I have been lurking here for a while, and in the past I had my share of fan websites, but today I needed tell someone that I ordered the Zen dvd's. They will arrive between 10th and 17th of Feb. I have gotten the books from the library and they are such a funny read.

I couldn't find Vendetta, but I got: Così fan tutti End Games Blood rain
I started reading the one on top of my list. It doesn't matter that I read them out of order. I read them because of the way Italy is portrayed, the build up of the story and the dialogue.
In Così fan tutti there is a heart felt message on the answering machine from Zen’s mother and I had to read it out loud and laugh. It is something his mother would do - and rightly so. Zen is no stranger to cutting corners. She also says that she followed him to the south of Italy (meaning Rome) but don’t expect to move to Africa for him. (meaning Naples)
I love the books. You get a perspective from someone living in Italy but with an English or American hat on. That’s way I love the books of Tim Parks.
(I often say that Belgium is a blue print of Italy, except they speak Dutch or French. The same political tactics go on, the red tape, the bloody favouritism and generally people don’t want to know.)

Thanks Prairie Girl and Zenina, I have bought a new DVD player because I was missing out on all the 'how the film was made' commentaries, so can now watch them. Also after reading about how you girls are enjoying theZen books, I have bought the three which have been filmed obviously with Rufus on the covers. When I went into the shop I couldn't find them so had to ask at the counter. The assistant said 'Oh they were there but I think we have sold out' but thank goodness when she checked they had just received a second order. Bodes well for another serious Girls as they are obviously very popular.

I did a little digging on line and found out that Zen will be aired in the autumn of 2011 in the Netherlands.
I also wrote to the Belgian TV company - I never did that before! -that they should consider buying Zen. They already bought Sherlock, so I assume that they are keeping up with the great taste BBC obviously has. ;D
I so hope that this will be a series. I hope they keep the same length; it's more a movie than a TV show. If it is only 5 times a full Zen, I'll be happy.

I don't think they will go for less than 90 minutes (the Wallanders, for example, were always full length, weren't they?) as it works so well in feature length.
If the series pushes the Zen books back into people's minds, they definitely deserve it. (And hopefully there will be Rufusified copies of the later parts as well!)

I have the same problem, kygal! Except for me I don't think it's the weather causing problems... It seems to have become very delayed, and Amazon won't let me do anything about it until the middle of Feb If it does miraculously come now, I'll be very very surprised (and happy!). I'm not a patient person when it comes to waiting for parcels... I want my Zen hehe!
