From quoll and the book she purchased on Amazing Grace Very nice! Psssttt!!! Don't tell Ruf he's still pretty damn good looking even when he tries really hard not to be! I think he'll only be happy when he plays one of those Sci Fi characters who are so covered in masks/make-up you can't even tell who they are unless you recognize their voices! LOL.

Good cropping Maxx, you did a great job with them!
Just in case anyone is interested the book is Amazing Grace by Eric Metaxas, Monarch Books, Oxford UK. It is the book of the history of the issue and Wilberforce's campaign with a few pics from the movie thrown in for good measure. Amazing what you find in National Trust shops when you arent really looking!
I hate to think how much this darned book weighs because I am going to have to carry it home!

I hate to think how much this darned book weighs because I am going to have to carry it home! LOL! Try lugging around the Riverside edition of Shakespeare's complete works around campus 3 times a week! LOL. We English majors always joked that we were building our muscles while studying Shakespeare.

Ah but I am very careful that I only buy stuff that doesnt weigh much because at my age a backpack can be lethal (I dont own a suitcase!).
Just as well I was never an English major but psych texts were bad enough!

From quoll and the book she purchased on Amazing Grace Hi quoll, thanks for this amazing pic. Did you scan this photo from a book? If you did, to remove the moiré effect on the photo (halftone screening) I suggest to set scanner source "by review" or "by printed" or "by journal" not "by photo" because the photos printed are rastered. I hope I'm helping you in taking pics right. Bye

I'll give it a try on my scanner at home when I get there. This isnt a brilliant machine unfortunately but better than nothing I reckon! Yes it is from a book which doesnt want to lie flat so that will also be contributing to the effect.

But seeing the texture on the photo I think it's an halftone screening for printing. Have a nice journey in England!

I am really looking forward to seeing this movie, it looks great! Haven't read all this thread I admit, because I want to see the movie without preconceived ideas - but I'll come back and read it all once I've seen the flick.

It's really beautiful and a happy accident if you ask me.

This photo is great - it is so dramatic with the sun coming in through the window. He just has those exquisite classic looks that allow him to portray any character in any period of time. It actually has the slightest grainy look on my computer that makes it look like it can be a old masters painting.
I am going to London today!
