I'm afraid the ITV answer reminds me much of an answer I received from a German TV company when I complained that they had axed the broadcasting of EH after the 2nd episode......we cannot afford to show a program that has not enough viewers for our advertisers...
Anyway, it was worth to try, Robela!

Keeping all my fingers and toes crossed!! Wouldn't that serve Mr. Cohen right if the series became even more successful now?

Yay !! (just one jumpy thing until we get a confirmation !) I'm starting celebrating right away though. There has been far too much doom and gloom around here. Thank you for posting that glimmer of hope Zenina. Edited to say - we should retitle this thread. Slightly more hopeful news ! ;D

I am sure I am not alone in wondering what is happening in the way of another series or not of Zen. I have had polite letters back from ITV and Channel 4 noting my interest and thanking me but they have no plans at present to buy Zen. I have emailed Left Bank Pictures again and got a very quick reply saying 'We will just have to wait to see if one of the other channels takes on Zen' . This gave me a bit of hope for the future. I guess there is no way of knowing what may happen. Rufus must take on some other work soon?? He may already have some planned?

I visited the Left Bank Pictures homepage. They announce that they won an award for the best independent production company and also that Kenneth Branagh won the BAFTA TV award 2010. And if I'm not mistaken, I read on BBC that there will be 2 other Wallander films - and I'm afraid that could at least mean a delay for Zen....

I find it very odd t hat a TV show that won a BAFTA only gets two shows for the 2011 season but shows with moderate audiences are given a full season. I think something else is at play and it has nothing to do with quality. I also believe that large networks like Channel 4 and ITV would not want to air a show that only had 5.7 million viewers because they are looking for 7- 8 million viewers. Added to that the fact BBC 1 made a big deal of how expensive it was to make. I do feel sorry for Left Bank but I think the budget and the low audience will make it hard. I believe BBC is really into making easy money.

All the TV stations are into easy money, that's why all the reality TV crap. It doesn't cost them as much to make and for some reason unknown to me people actually watch it. Even our news here is being effected by these cuts in expenses and quality, they try to pass off press releases as news stories all the time. Sad really. Anything of quality just doesn't get enough viewers to stay on.

reformeddruid I am a New Yorker and I think my evening new is nonsense as well. It is in fact very sad. MOvies are actually retreads os the very movies they made the year before but the viewing public has only themselves to blame.
