I think it was Rai who reported that Rufus had been offered to do some play(s) in London but had to decline because they collided with the filming schedule for his new movie project.

I am really excited about anything Rufus does next and thrilled he has offers lined up. No matter what he does, he is wonderful ! I know he loves a variety of work and does not want to be "stuck" in a role. I am probably the only one here who would much rather see him primarily in a re-occuring high quality role/series than a variety of small roles in many different-not-so-great- projects. I hope what he does have lined up makes me eat my words! It probably will...be gentle with me!

Kygal, I secretly would not mind seeing him every night. I went through quite a withdrawal when EH was not renewed Zen was cancelled but more importantly as an actor he has to have work and in his own until recently his dance card was empty. As long as you work your likely hood of recognition is better than if you do not work.
But to cheer you up go to the Danny Cohen thread and click on the thread for the article. The posts were about ZEN!!!!!

Yes Vmaciv. I agree. I would much rather see him working in ANYTHING as to not work. The DC thing did cheer me up!

No, I'm not going to launch into another rant about DC. He's not worth it.
But still, looking at all those male detectives in more or less successful series and even more to come, I still don't get why he killed off Zen.

I said this when 11th Hour was killed off in the US. The producers of both shows has very expensive price tags for both shows. 11th hour failed miserably because they put a wonderful actor in a series of miserable plots and even though the character he built was beautiful the show was not. The network was furious not with the show per se but with the producer. Zen suffered a very similar fate. The show was expensive and came a long at a time where people just complained loudly about accents Italians etc. The people who cared about the show did not show up in time. DC did not want to spend the money for a show that was basically not shot in England. No matter how he sugar coats it. I hope that the Vampire movie and the gangster movie are more successful. I have not hear anymore about the gangster movie so I hope that is still on. Rufus Sewell is an excellent actor who crafts beautiful characters and he deserves a break. let's hope we have a case where nice guys finish first.

let's hope we have a case where nice guys finish first. Absolutely! You're probably right about the high production costs - but the overall reviews of Zen were not that bad (apart from the accent thing), so I really still don't get it

Thanks for that article, Kygal.. Had to laugh at one of the comments, suggesting the Ripper series should be called "Downtown Stabby"!

DC should have been honest. If it was the ratings and expense of Zen that got it axed...just say that. Using the excuse of to many crime dramas then bring more on board makes him look even more stupid than I thought possible. Thats why I got such a kick out of this.

Just reading my TV mag this morning and I notice that there's -guess what? - another detective popping up on BBC. DI Poole in Death in Paradise. DC seems to contradict himself right left and wotsit! He must have it in for our man!

I came across this looking for Aurelio trivia. I'm not sure about others, but I know when I sent out letters to TV companies at More Zen Please, I suggested that they partner with Left Bank, not try to take the series from them, as Zen is obviously their property. I'm not sure if anyone was taking the other avenue or not, but agree that it doesn't seem doable. ;D
