I could watch the recording of "Luther" as well. It's a great play, but probably difficult to understand for someone who is not familiar with German history. Wish I could have seen it live! As Zenina posted the quality of the recording is a poor one. Not only the tape, but the recording is from one angle during the whole play so no close-ups even with Luther alone on the pulpit. No facial details can be seen. - Nevertheless it gives you an impression of what the play was like. The reviews and interviews were interesting to read. Thanks to Zenina for posting the infos to make this arrangement!

I cannot resist re-posting this . My favourite of the Luther pics, it shows Rufus at his most tender and beautifully vulnerable.

I knew that Rufus had done this play obviously, but considered it long gone. Thanks Zenina for this thread. As a result of this I have today arranged a viewing at National Theatre Studio to see the recording, all it took was a five minute phone call and it was all arranged. I know it's not a brilliant recording but look forward to seeing something else from his past catalogue. Thanks again Zenina.

Glad you were able to see Luther, Walt, even if the recording was poor. (Love your new avatar, by the way! ) Hope you enjoy it when you see it, jamolivej! Thanks for the pic, Frannie!

Went to NT studios on Monday to watch the recording of Luther and so glad that I had the opportunity to do so. I agree that the recording is not good, no one can be seen clearly but it certainly came over as a very powerful production and Rufus gave a memorable performance. I really wish that I had seen this performed on the stage but obviously this was better than not seeing it at all. As others have said it was a relaxed day when you could pop out for lunch with plenty of time to browse through the files of photos and costume designs etc. Thank you again Zenina.

I think this might be the photo by Graham Brandon that Adina found before, but which isn't showing now:

(BTW, I am about to edit this thread to remove the posts, including Adina's, where the pics no longer show up - just in case anyone's wondering why their post count has gone down)
