Ok, here's where we select the scene we want Maxx to put up on the website for others to see Rufus at his best in Tristan and Isolde!
The poll answer section wouldn't let me type in the entire scene, so I had to shorten them.........here's the list again, so you'll know what is meant by each answer:
1-The scene on the bridge when he asks Tristan if he thinks Isolde has a lover. 2-The scene when Isolde arrives to meet Marke for the first time. 3-The scene in the bedchamber when Marke tells Isolde he wants her to be happy. 4-The scene when he confronts Isolde about her infidelity with Tristan. and she tells him the whole story. 5-The scene when he confronts Tristan about Isolde. 6-The scene as Marke and Isolde stroll the village as Tristan watches. 7-The scene of Marke and Tristan returning from Aragon after the battle. 8-The scene where Marke talks to the other leaders and asks, "Will you always be little men"?
Let the voting begin! Michelle

I voted for when Isolde arrives to meet Marke for the first time. It's a little more uplifting than the other ones and rather humorous and a good clip to entice new fans, IMO.

It's the part about her not having him, isn't it?
I can't make up my mind. So I've found it impossible to vote. I love 4 but it's a scene where there isn't much of Rufus unless you know the story and you understand what he's suffering. That's the trouble with a lot of these. Taken out of context they don't mean much. It's easy to miss the subtlety of the performance.
hmmm maybe I need to watch Tristan + Isolde again...

I need to watch it again too (any excuse is better than none!) I dont know if anyone else is getting the selected ad at the top of this page for a gay hotel! Not that I have anything against gay hotels but it is interesting that "Tristan" seems to have generated that relevance for the google ad banner!

Yikes! And, interestingly, an ad for commentary on scenes from "Hamlet." I'm having trouble choosing a scene, too. They are all good choices. I agree with Pattirose about the lighter scene but I also love the bedchamber scene where he's so tender and gentle and shows such understanding of what her feelings should be, although they are, in fact, quite different from what he thinks. Rufus portrays that tenderness so well!

Oh my, I have three adds across the top all dealing with Crime, Trauma & Decomposition cleanup too 7Sis. I can't imagine what triggered these I voted for the scene that I kept wanting to watch over & over. The scene on the bridge between Marke & Tristan. Although it reveals both the heart of the story, and Marke's, I believe it would also generate interest in seeing what happened before & after this conversation.

Don't know what you've done to get interesting ads - all I've got is an ad for Google.
Oh, and I just cannot choose a scene - everytime I think I've settled on one, I look at the list again and get all confused (mind you, that's normal for me!)

Okay, after pouring over the list, I have determined that I think many of these things are better served in other films. A lot of what we have here, we have in Charles, for example. I love the "little men" speech on the bridge but it's better served in Charles--that particular emotion that is.
I can't think of another scene in another film that has the specific raw completely transparent emotion of the infidelity scene so I voted for that even though in the context of the film, I hate it because it's so 21st century and I can't imagine Marke ever thinking it, let alone saying it, in dark ages Britain.
But this exercise it not to test the veracity of the picture but to show Rufus at his best and I think this scene does that.

going to move this over here so everyone who wants to participate sees it. Uke maybe we should create a separate thread for polls and contest so everyone knows exactly where to go if they want to participate in them...

That would be great...........under Admin is the only place to start a poll, then you guys have to move it every time. If there was a specific place for polls........then we'd all know where to go to see what we're voting on!!!

I see we've got a few mores votes since we moved over here. Want to set a deadline on this one Michelle to get people moving? Right now we don't even come close to having a definitive winner and it would be nice to get the clip of the month up before the month is over.

Okay, I've been undecided long enough and finally have cast my vote. It was surprisingly difficult to choose and I'm still not sure I chose the right one. They're all such good scenes!

I'm really surprised no one has voted for the Marke confronts Tristan scene. That scene has some brilliant conflict and contrast in it. It really shows a great deal of skill and craftsmanship. or... is it just the presence of Tristan that puts people off.

or...is it just the presence of Tristan that puts people off. I think that's it exactly. Franco's performance is so wooden it's unbelievable. What were they thinking??? Or what was he NOT thinking, such as about his character?? G xo

It is a powerful scene, but I personally didn't want it to be representative of the character Rufus portrayed in this movie. I'd hate to think anyone would see it and say "oh look, he's playing another bad guy in this movie, bullying an expression challenged boy in a dungeon"
