Important Warning

I almost clicked a some malicious link containing what appeared to be Malware this evening. It came up in my Google Alerts as a link to Photobucket.
I'd recommend you delete this and don't click on it if you see it. I was almost a week without a pc and had a repair bill on my hands last year after clicking on a similar link.
If you do click on it by mistake it'll tell you you have a virus and ask if you want to run the virus scan. WHAT EVER YOU DO DON'T. This is not a virus scan but the actual malicious software that prevents you doing anything on your pc. Just shut everything down and run a virus and anti-malware if you have it.

Thanks for the warning about the google alert, Nell. I want to second Nell's warning about not clicking on the "run a virus scan" box. Our hard drive had to be completely wiped last year after it got the "internet security 2010" virus.

Thanks for the warning, Nell. I got redirected to one of those sites when I went to one of my usual photo sites the other night. I do get suspicious about many of the Google alerts I get - I'm sure they are really similar scams.

Yep my PC's stuffed - can't get my virus protection to work correctly. Be careful out there - it's a jungle.

A similar thing has recently happened to me.

A box came up called Anti Vista spyware asking me to click. Luckily I didn't but couldn't get rid of this and had to close down my computer and get someone I know to check it. He said this is how the virus' try to get into your computer now and it is organised crime and they are making millions and are very clever and hard to stop. In all he had to take away my computer and I was without it for about three days because the virus was so hard to get rid of.

I am now quite scared of what I click into and have to be very wary.

It seemed to happen when I had been into Photobucket so am now quite nervous of this!!
