It was actually Charles II that made me aware of Rufus. Since I saw it, I am trying to watch all his work. I was totally in love with Charles after watching it. I like him so much that I even flew to London to see R&R and I even got his autograph (how childish, isn't it).

well I don't know, did you shave your head, paint your face blue and wear the jersey of your favorite player while wearing your purple socks for a week because your team always wins when you wear your purple socks for a week? sort of puts it in perspective, doesn't it?

I know what you mean about being in love with CII - I even went hunting for the clock which has the mark at 2 to acknowledge the time CI got beheaded.

Can you tell me about the clock? I've somehow missed hearing about it.

No, not childish.
I bought a region 2 DVD player in large part for the missing hour on the US version. I now own both versions and two books written about Charles II. I also deeply regret deciding that I couldn't possibly justify flying to London just to see Rock'N'Roll and Rufus!

It was actually Charles II that made me aware of Rufus. Me, too! The BBC trailed the mini-series for weeks before it was actually aired, showing the scene where Charles has returned to England to become king, and was riding through the streets - the wink to the little girl was what particularly struck me! Yet it was only when The Taming of the Shrew was shown, and then I saw She-Creature shortly after, that the bug really bit. Very contagious, this Rufus-worship!

The bug bit me when I saw Tristan and Isolde. BTW, I love that wink in CII as well -- when the little girl sticks her tongue out, he just reacts and winks at her so spontaneously!

I was going to comment on that as well as how far some of us had to travel (hem, quoll) to actually get there. I think Britfan and I may have been the next furtherest coming from LA, but I could be wrong. And if Rufus does Rock 'n' Roll in NYC I'll go see it again. Good theatre is worth the trip. Actually Rufus is worth the trip wherever he happens to be performing.

Hats off to those of you in the US (and beyond) who made the trip to London, but I really can't decide whether or not to go to NY. Much as I love the boy, it seems absurd when he lives three miles up the road from me. I could maybe try to bump into him in Star-bleuchs and get him to do a little impromptu Jan for me, what do you all think?

That's infinitely preferable. ;D In fact maybe you could set something up and we could all come there instead of NY? And we could stay with you. 50 or 60 people shouldn't be an issue. We can bring sleeping bags and tents. Still... I'll use any excuse to visit NYC. Rufus isn't the only person I "camp follow" added:Wait, I overlooked the Starbucks part. Forget it. No one should be subjected to that even for Rufus.

i haven't had time to read all the comments/opinions aboout CH II here but can't wait to tell you i watched this film last week and i was absolutely shocked!!! firstly-because of being exposed to "so much Rufus" in one movie(4 hours!! that's the proper length for all Ruf's movies and he played just brilliantly Secondly - The suspension in the film, the plot, the costumes, the music-everything was perfect and made me want to see the movie agaaaaain... and I was so happy to find out that not only Rufus is a magnificent actor there, Rupert Graves and Helen McCrory were as great as RS. This movie was a feast to my eyes..and i can honestly say-it was worth waiting so long to watch this MASTERPIECE...buying this film via e-bay, from a Dutch guy, cost me lots of money and lots of patience(i got the copy with Dutch subtitles only..grr..) but it was so f****** worth it!! by the way - was this film ever on at the cinemas in UK/US??if not-it should have! This film gave me more excitement/ thrill than any Hollywood production!! (No Lord of the Rings or Mission Impossible can compare to that..) I know some of you may say I exaggerate or I'm too excited about just one of MANY of his films but it was one of the most awaited films in my life and i'm truly happy i could see it at once.. now I can watch the most exciting moments again&again (oh, his relations with Barbara in the movie can make anyone's heart beat faster:) all the other mistresses of Charles were mediocrities comparing to her;) ..OK-gotta go - and when i cool down i'll return here to discuss some other aspects of the movie

guys-just last(but not least:) thing- does anybody know if there is a script to CH II movie somewhere on the internet??i've been searching high&low and found nothing:( i'd find it really useful to have it as i'm not sure if understood all the scenes correctly (and in case of Roof's movies every word counts:) and i must be more careful when buying next films on ebay(just didn't notice the subtitles are ONLY in Dutch-haha)..
