Paris Je T'aime just opened here as part of French Film Festival. Had to wait a long time to see Rufus for very short bit with Emily Mortimer but it was worth the wait. PLaying it in the most low key style, pretty conventional contemporary character...I enjoyed seeing him "Do Normal", for a change.

It was a lovely little vignette really. I quite agree - "normal" makes a nice change.
Must admit that I still havent seen it all because it was on the inflight movie yesterday and I was so knackered that I really couldnt concentrate on all the subtitles on that tiny little screen. Thank goodness for fast forward on inflight movies!

It came to Chicago just before I left for England and is still playing. I saw it on Monday and I thought the idea of the mini-stories was clever. Of course, Ruf's was the most entertaining. You are so right about the subtitles - it is printed in a soft yellow which is difficult to see on a theater screen and they shoot by quickly. The only story I thought was poorly done was the Vampire with Elijah Wood.

I noticed the movie was listed in my theatre down the street this past weekend. Surprised to see it really. I knew it was playing in the theatres downtown. Didn't think it would make it out my way. So when I saw Paris listed, I had to go see it. I loved it. Rufus was gorgeous as usual and it was good to see him even just for a few short minutes. And it is sooooo refreshing to see him being Normal as Cat puts it earlier. I must confess, I love his outfit and he filled out his pants very nicely I didn't know where to stare at first, but I had to give up on the pants part to keep soaking up all the glorious details of his handsome face. (man, I sound scary, well at least shameless. LOL) He and Emily made a good pair, convincing. I didn't know so many wonderful actors and actresses were in it. It was a truly a fabulous mix of veterans and newcomers. It was lovely to see them in such a lovely collection of vignettes. They made me laughed and cried just within minutes. The movie is very well done. I can't wait for the DVD to come out. Kudos Rufus. This movie really made me yearn for him to make more romantic comedy. He's a natural. Did I mention I want to have his babies before? LOL.

Oooooo, I'm so jealous of all of you that had Paris Je T'aime open in your cities! I knew we had no chance........but that didn't stop me from tearing open the paper every Friday just to be sure! I guess I have to wait for the DVD! I'm excited about seeing all the little films now, not just Ruf's!

Well, there has to be ONE of us: I went to Paris and I wouldn't go back. And I usually love arty films! It was just okay--I wasn't bowled over. Ruf was in the best bit, and one with Gena Rowlands wasn't bad either. The very first vignette is cute too...well, others are kinda cute too, but thats the best I can say about them. If Ruf's bit was still on you-tube, there's no way I would buy the dvd. The fun for me was I got to see it in an old arty cinema, which added to the ambiance of the films. But in it's own right, I liked the idea of "Paris" but was underwhelmed with the final result. If it gets awards, they'll be awarding it because it's avant guard, not because it's very good. But thats just MHO.

Come to think of it, how come they took Roof's segment off You Tube? I saw other segments but not his. Any idea?

I think the film producers were quickly on to the pirating! The segment popped up a couple of times but got taken down pretty quickly each time.
I still havent seen this in its entirety - I wasnt really struck by the beginning when I watched it on the plane and so havent bothered to check it at the cinema. You cant fast forward in the cinema unfortunately!

AmazonUS has Paris, Je T'Aime available for preorder. It's due out Nov. 13. Isn't that the same day "Amazing Grace" is due out here in the US? **wonders if I can find a 'two for one' deal somewhere** HAHAHA

Saw "Paris" last night on DVD. I enjoyed most of the vignettes, but really loved the idea that Oscar Wilde "possessed" William (Ruf) at the cemetery * LOL*. That scene is one to watch repeatedly! The Gena Rowland's bit was great, also like the Bob Hoskins/Fanny Ardant story. Worth a second viewing, I thought.

I watched the whole thing when my first intention was just watch the Ru part. I like the idea of multiple story lines going on in one movie (Love Actually, and Crash come to my mind..) and Paris is no exception, but there were a few segments that just fell flat for me...
The one with the hair product salesmen and the asian chick? WTF? I didn't get it at all...way too random. And the vampire one? another WTF? It came out of nowhere and didn't really seem to fit the mood of the film at all, reminded me too much of Sin City.
Some good ones though were the one with the young boy and the Muslim girl and the one with the french guy talking to the American (I think), both were easy to follow and made me smile. As did the one with Nick Nolte, too cute when the baby started crying.
Ahhh yes the bit with Ru and Emily *high maintenence* Mortimer...whome I havn't liked since I saw her in "Match Point". I think her character here was very similar to that one...whiny and very manipulative. When I saw it was her and she was acting the same...I wanted to hurl. Ru can do so much better. I personally would have been laughing when he said "Oh look...it's ugly" or something to that effect...very dry sense of humor, but it was humor just the same...shame on her for threatening to not marry him unless he gained a sense of humor...whatever happened to loving someone juat as they are? Oh wait that only happens to Bridget Jones...Sorry tangent police...
Overall the movie had some really good segments and a few bad ones...worth it to buy I think...even though Ru is only in it for like 5 min...I'll just mute all the Emily parts...

PLaying it in the most low key style, pretty conventional contemporary character...I enjoyed seeing him "Do Normal", for a change. i liked that bit, but mainly because it hit me - just when rufus' character hits his heads and hallucinates about oscar wilde :-* - that rufus would do a great oscar wilde... i have said it over and over again to friends during the last week or so, take that historical transcript of oscar wilde's diffamation trial, and find an actor best suited to play this brilliant, charismatic, and flamboyant writer who is too clever for his own good... but as i always end up saying - this is why i am just a penniless artist, and not a hollywood mogul... :P

I enjoyed this a whole lot and was glad that all the stories were only 10 minutes, just enuf, well not in Ruf's case. But still on the whole it's worth seeing and 100% agreement with the Gena Rowland segment.

I have said this before but after reading all the raves tonight I feel I have to say it again This is the worst film Roofie -baby has been involved in ( including Extreme ops"). I am not criticising his work as we all know he never gives less than his best, but I sat through nearly 2 hours of pretentious c**p for less than 10 mins of Roofie. and paid £ 13.99 for the DVD for the privilege of doing so. >
