I bought the dvd for barely 10 Euro. By your experiences I knew what's on that disc. Accompany to DGD the sequence with the hair-or-sowhat-dealer is for nothing. Absolute nonsense! And the vampirestory... not as half scary as it should be. But simple to play for Elijah Wood without one word to say. But I love Roof's little story at Pere Lachaise. Watched it first in german, than a few times in original. However I love Rufus' character and was a bit jealous to Emily in the end, oooh yes! I was!

I saw this on TV, so I didn't pay for it, and wouldn't pay to own it. As others have mentioned, some of the films were very good and some were so horrifyingly bad that they seemed like they were a parody of bad student films. The hair salon segment was trying so hard to be artsy that it was indecipherable. I also thought it was particularly cruel to subject the audience to 5 minutes of mimes. I liked Rufus's segment, although I had a hard time following the logic that we were supposed to be "on her side." I especially agree with DGD that Rufus's character was very funny, so the woman's complaints did just seem like whining. There was "Bury me under something ugly," a hilarious and (of course because of Rufus) perfectly timed comeback, and "Oh, only good lies for me," and even "I didn't mean your lips." Oh well, no one appreciates Rufus like we do.

So am I the only one that watched this for film of the week ?
I'm a bit late with the review and I have to confess that this time I only watched the Rufus one and the one after. The first time I watched the whole dvd and found it a bit heavy going. Perhaps better if you just pick a couple at a time to watch, particularly if one is Pere Lachaise.
I agree with the comments that some of these were a bit pretentious. A bit arty farty for me. Although some were ok.
On Pere Lachaise I loved Rufus character, but she was plain annoying. If we were supposed to be on her side I think Rufus turned the whole thing on it's head. I know we're a tad biased but I was firmly in Rufus camp here and actually would have preferred him to stick 2 fingers up to her and sit and have a cup of tea with Oscar Wilde !

Have just watched this (bought it off Ebay for £1.99 a few days ago). Actually I say I've watched it but actually I have only watched Pere Lachaise. I agree with nell, I thought she was over sensitive and although she said he had no humour I thought he was really funny. When she said guess what his last words were before he died and he said "bury me under something S**t"

Saw this movie in a theatre initially and thought it was okay but was mildly dissapointed--thought it would be more interesting. Since the best, the brightest spot which is Rufus' short is up on you-tube there is not a big incentive to buy this film. Saw New York, I Love You on video as well and I think it wasn't any better than Paris Je t'aime, maybe even worse.

I thought his character is funny in his own way, I think he's the kind whom you have to explain a joke but doesn't realize when he was funny.... I'm just surprised that she'd even except this -not funny- man's proposal to begin with? perhaps she cornered him to do it? I supposed the trip to the dead works, it made him funny!!! Though second thought, I like to believe that actually it made her see "the funny" him at last........as we know, a lot of nagging and whining could drive you blind ;D ;D I like the scene when he fixed his shoes....was that part of the script? and when he said that he's not funny or never been funny (along that line) I said in my head, "You handsome liar, you!!!"

I confess that I only watched the Rufus bit today, will catch up on the rest later because I like Paris very much. Anyway, Père Lachaise is one of the most beautiful spots I saw there so far, so to me it was perfect that this should be the section that Mr. Green Eyes is in And I just loved him, he looked smashing in that coat and scarf, and while I did understand her complaint a tiny bit because I tend to be a bit over-romantic at times and get some replies like Ruf's "it's ugly" - but she was indeed quite whiny and a spoilsport to run away just because of his remark. (Maybe she had premenstrual syndrome or something.) sewellme has captured quite well what's the thing abut Rufus's character here: he's not joke-telling funny but more ironically so (which fits his real-life kind of humour well), and when he tripped over those roots and fell I couldn't help laughing ;D He does have a slapstick comedian in him among his many other talents Nice little episode which could have gone on longer for my taste. And I don't remember who wrote it, but I'd fall any minute for Rufus as Oscar Wilde

Watched the dvd today. A few were good and some were quite bad. The only one I wanted to see and ejoyed was the one Rufus was in. He was his usual eloquent, gorgeous self. I thought they both acted well but it was too short. Us girls can never get enough of him. He looked cute in it and quite young wth his lovely short tousled mildly spiky hair, his clothes, his gorgeous voice and his witty banter delivered to perfection - I thought.!

Just ordered the DVD today for £2.99 - so if Rufus' is the only good thing in it, it was worth it.

I watched this film for the first time not long after I moved to Australia, and was missing Europe a lot, so for me it was a great nostalgic film. Although some of the clips (Elijah Wood's vampire springs to mind) were a lot worse than others I liked the style of the film, and the overall feel. I love Rufus' story though, even though like a lot of others, I think that his fiancee's character wasn't particularly easy to sympathise with. I loved his comments about the lips and the ugliness too, rueful, it just seemed like a dry, sarcastic humour. I know sarcasm is supposed to be the lowest form of wit and all, but if you can pull it off well, it can be the funniest! Still, I suppose she came to her senses in the end... On a more superficial note, he looks great in this film! Worth the 2.99 for that alone

It's another DVD I recently ordered and is making its way to me right now! I'm addicted to Rufus for good now. First I got the more obvious Rufus DVDs. Then it was no longer enough and I needed more, so I started getting the stuff that's slightly harder to find. Yep, I've got it bad! ;D
