********** SPOILER ALERT **** AND YOU **** REALLY ***** DONT WANT A SPOILER FOR THAT ONE *********
ok so i finally got to see the black swan, and for once i am lost for words.
i simply dont understand!
might be the old age settling in. i used to be sooooo clever in understanding obscurely symbolic psycho-thrillers.
make no mistake about it, i thought natalie portman was INCREDIBLY GOOD and this might very well be the role of her life, bless her little oscar.
but i need help here. at the end, is she dead, totally mad, hallucinating? what?
what about her mom? was she nutso as well, did she actually exist, or just a figment of portman's imagination?
and the other girl, the mila kunis character, was she really plotting for portman's role or was it imagined as well?
HEEEEEEEEELPPPP

SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT
If you haven't seen the film DO NOT READ
LOL Tipou, I watched it last weekend too. I quite enjoyed it too.
She was schizophrenic. That's why she didn't realise how she was getting the scratches and when you saw some stuff happening it was actually her other "personality" doing it. A bit sort of beautiful mind, but not too beautiful.
I hope that makes sense.

Girls when I watched this film I found it very very creepy. Everything we saw really existed(I mean the characters, not all the situations),but we saw it from Portman's point of you, which was the crazy side.Nell is right! In the end you get to choose if she lived or not.But if that's perfection(she said "I'm perfect now") I choose the second.I don't like Natalie Portman(I find her a bit cold),but this movie was built on her and at the same time, not on her.If you know what I mean!

Recently watched Black Swan. Personally I found it to be one of tinsel town's "art" films . Not really to my taste.
Thinking about it since, I wondered why this film got an Oscar and 'Downloading Nancy which was a far better film had the audiences at Sundance walking out.
Maybe it is due to megabucks

In the end, she had reached her"Great Work" when she was was dancing to the last song and saw her mom in the audience and leaped to the white floor. She unknowingly, stabbed herself, instead of what she thought (mila kunis). She basically "murdered" the white swan in her, and she is now the black swan. The film leaves the viewers to make their own belief. It doesn't matter if she survived the knife wound or not, she is forever lost to the black swan. Her mind is shattered with reality and she may end up like Beth (Winona Ryder).

Tip, loved your comment and I have to admit I am in complete agreement with you. I liked Natalie Portman's comment that they had to throw in lesbian scenes so that guys would go see it. After a second viewing I appreciated the acting a bit more, thought Barbara Hershey was amazing and liked Mila Kunis a lot. Portman as usual was terrific, decent story line too.

YES, kunis was good too. hershey i found a lil over the top, but i guess that was in spirit with her character, and the tone of the movie.

I've never known her to play a "normal" character, I think Hershey in under-appreciated and h'wood doesn't know what to do with her.
