I downloaded this part of radio broadcast some time ago from our late lamented sister site. W.H.Auden wrote this as a memorial to his mother and it is set to music. It sounds like Rufus reading the introduction and then later definitely reads a beautifully evocative piece of prose about the author's memories of his child hood during WW11 After that, other readers take over and it becomes a bit incomprehensible and the music discordant.. I have listened to this several times and while I can 'Roof' through it, I find it very frustrating.
I have not seen any reviews of this on site so:--- Has anybody heard either this in whole or in part ? Does Rufus read any more of it ? Is the rest of it any more understandable? and can you explain the rest to me?
