Thought this may be fun. Sorry in advance if it or something similar is already here. Also sorry in advance if its a lame idea....but here it goes.
Pick in order your top 7 favorite (had to stop somewhere and its the 7th month) Rufus roles/characters....you can name the title like I have. Can be film, tv, audio or theater. Remember it is just the role and not the entire production that is your favorite. Also state a brief reason for your choice.
Heres mine:
1. EH-no surprise here. This is the role I discovered Rufus. Loved the complex and interesting Jacob Hood character. Also had him for 18 eps. 2. Zen-love the modern good-guy role. Very handsome in a suit. And he lives! 3. TOTS-no explanation. Everyone loves this fun character. 4. Uncorked-Ross is such a cutie. First Rufus dvd I bought. 5. GTS-bad boy turned good. So young and cute! Enjoyed the entire set. 6. KT-bad boy who stays bad. My fave bad guy role. Loved his hair. 7. Savage Land-closest thing to beach movie he has done. Mick is a complex and changing character.
It was hard to limit to 7. I have enjoyed his performance in everything he has done even if I didnt like the movie or series.
Looking forward to what some of the rest of you list.

Nice idea! (But it will be hard to pick seven of all those great roles he's done ...) Well ... 1. IASL - Mick Carpenter stole my heart big big time. 2. Zen - this one had all it took: lots of screentime, suits, a complex character for Rufus to sink his teeth into, humour, drama, romance ... 3. EH - was a little sceptical about the whole series and had to get used to the accent, but Jacob is such a lovely character. 4. TPOTE - perfect choice as Tom Builder and a role with many facets to it: craftsman, visionary, father figure, lover 5. TOTS - Petruchio would certainly drive me as mad as he does Kate sometimes, but then win me over with a smile or look. 6. Uncorked - Ross reminds me a bit of myself ;D 7. The Woodlanders - Giles is just such a lovely, gentle person (I could easily have put ten other characters up there, hope Dominique and Billy and Paul and Lord Marke et al. won't be angrily haunting my dreams tonight ;D )

1. Thomas Clarkson -- You can't help when Rufusitis hits, and it's the first Rufus DVD I bought...two years before Rufusitis hit. 2. Jacob Hood -- a beautiful character with a beautiful mind and fun personality laced with tragedy. Love love love me some Jacob! 3. Petruchio -- how can you not love Petruchio? First time I saw our boy in a comedic role, and this solidified Rufusitis forever. 4. Dominique -- a character who may have seemed a bit prickly at first, but was quick to prove it was all just ambition and a true passion for his craft. First time Rufus made me cry. 5. Marke -- big strong bear of a man with a loving heart of gold and a gentle voice and manner. What more could you want? 6. Robbie Fay -- cutest, sweetest bus driver I've ever seen. 7. Tom Builder -- again, a sweetheart of a man full of passion for his craft but who is laced with tragedy. Hmmm... can Charlie be my 7.5? No? Oh well. I still love you Charlie...and you, Ross...and you, Adhemar...and you, Seth...and Frank, and Mick, and Paul, and Marco, and Will, and Giles....

It was hard to limit. I would have liked to add Tom, Bobby and Dom. Very interesting choices, I bet no list is exactly the same.

According to my notes from yesterday I am a typical girl who falls mostly for the good guys. And, of course, all my notes are (again!) filled with emotions more than with rational thought.
1. CHARLES II- with no doubt and hesitation he will be now, always and forever my greatest and most loved character Rufus ever played. If I have to say why, than I will (but don't blame me later when you get tired of reading)- I love him for his warm, big human heart, with all of its greatness and weaknesses; for his wisdom and tolerance, for his determination and stamina; but mostly for the fact that such a complex and bold portrait Rufus has made while he has been only 34 or 35 years old. For me this comes to show his enormous tallent as an actor, and reveals a part of his perception of the world as a person.
2. Mick Carpenter from "In a Savage Land" My other love! I haven't done the review for this film, that is why I will leave my comments for the right thread. But Mick stole my heart, too, kissmekate!
3. Here is the Noble Marco from "Dangerous Beauty/The Honest Courtesan", another big love, and the one that helped me discover Rufus Sewell as an actor. Very young and innocent Rufus, with angel's face and curls, but also with a honest and big heart, filled with poetry and love.
4. Than comes Lord Marke form "Tristan + Isolde" with his kindness, with his human face of a royal heart, his longing for love and life.
5. Tom Builder- my favorite architect (he was more of an architect than the educated ones today); devoted to his craft and with the soul of a real master builder; bursting with passion and desire for life and his work, tamed with calm and precise mind.
6. Here I choose for the moment Aurelio Zen- the lovable policeman
7. This is my place for Paul from Vinyan- an exceptionally complex character. I still have my reservations for the film, though. Otherwise Paul would be much higher in my list. .... umpf, all I read is related to the heart. What can I say, I am very emotional when it comes to loving Rufus' characters...

I love your list, choc! (And I'm looking forward to discussing more about lovely Mick ) I think we've all made our choices from the heart. After all, emotions of all kind is what Rufus does so wonderfully. You cannot judge his performances purely with your head.
