(Having a little bit of trouble concentrating because there appears to be a dancing banana just above where I'm typing. LOL.) Anyway! Hello everyone! I'm new, obviously. I've been aware of Mr. Sewell for quite some time, but for some reason just became recently fascinated with him. A friend on another board shared a clip of Taming of the Shrew the other day, aaaaand that pretty much did me in! I've been just a bit obsessed with him ever since. The only things of his that I'm sure I've seen in their entirety are A Knight's Tale and John Adams. Youtube has been helpful with at least getting an idea of his other work. I want badly to catch up on all of it. So, about me. I'm a single 30-something from North Carolina. I live on a small horse farm and have been teaching high school English for the past ten years. I love teaching, I love training and showing horses, I love movies, and I'm an aspiring novelist. Aside from Rufus, I love Stephen Dillane and Jason Isaacs. I think all three are enormously talented, and I admire them all for caring more about the quality and integrity of their work versus fame and fortune. I'm excited to have people to act like this with. Because that's kind of where I am right now regarding Rufus. Just a bit excited! Hahaha! So...hi!

Welcome to our little corner of insanity! I know what you mean about Taming of the Shrew. You must ... you simply MUST ... see the whole thing. Out of all of Roof's many, many outstanding performances, I think I love Petruchio the most. Have fun poking around in the forum!

Hi gretchenpc!! Welcome to The Rooftop! Your story sounds a little bit like my own. I too have also been fascinated for a while with Rufus (quite a few years actually. A Knight's Tale was the first thing I saw him in), but it wasn't until February of this year that Rufusitis hit me hard! LOL. Youtube helped me with becoming more familiar with his work as well. I was surprised at how much of his work was available on there! I'm in SC so not as far away from you as some of the other ladies might be, and I'm also an aspiring novelist and I also love Jason Isaacs! Another lovely guy and amazing actor. You'll have so much fun on here. The ladies are all so nice and helpful and I think when it comes to Rufus, we're all like this 24/7 (well, at least I am anyway! LOL!) Have you started ordering his work yet? If not, be prepared. It'll happen soon enough! Youtube offers some of his best performances (9/11 Out of the Blue is him at his absolute best, in my opinion) but there are so many other amazing performances to be seen! I strongly suggest you see Illuminata, A Man of No Importance, Eleventh Hour, Gone to Seed (he's so young in it, but his skills were just as good then as they are now), Victory, Bless the Child, and Amazing Grace (I'm sadly known for my deep and unwavering love for Rufus' scarecrow-y character Thomas Clarkson ;D ). I still have yet to see all of his performances but I'm definitely working on it! See you around the board!! Oooh, forgot to add: did you see Zen when it premiered on PBS in July?

Hello and welcome to the Rufus madhouse! Like you, I knew about the lovely Mr. Sewell for years but somehow pushed him to the back of my mind until "The Pillars of the Earth" aired in Germany. I loved him in that and started Googling that gorgeous guy. Next thing I found myself doing was watching all of "Taming of the Shrew" on the tiny youtube screen, and Petruchio totally won me over. I've been high on Rufus ever since ;D Apart from the films and series Meg already mentioned, I'd also recommend In a Savage Land (I guess that's the one I've seen most often to date), Dark City and the excellent Charles II. Have fun discovering Rufus's wide variety of work and browsing through the forum. See you around! I want YOU for the Rooftop!Told you so - that look ALWAYS works with my fangirls!

Welcome to the Rooftop, Gretchenpc! Look around and enjoy!
I came along Rufus after reading Middlemarch and then watching the film. The Taming of the Shrew followed, as well as lots of other films. Rufus is always convincing in his roles! Among my favourites are In a Savage Land, The Woodlanders and Victory, but I'm afraid they all are difficult to get. If you don't know them yet, I'd recommend Zen and Charles II.

*sigh* Hello Gretchen! I am also new here and massively infected with Rufusitis. I can't help it - I've never had that before. I keep soaking in everything I find about him and watch his movies over and over again. My absolute fave is Taming of the Shrew, closely followed by Honest Courtesan and Woodlanders. And I, like Kissmekate, first noticed him in the Pillars of the Earth and thought this is the most beautiful man on earth. Strange enough, a year ago I saw "The Holiday" and I didn't even recognize him! He looks so different in that. Looking forward to reading more on this board... even though my time is very limited!

Hi and welcome to the gang, Gretchen! You'll find a lot of stuff on Youtube (in 10 minutes chunks, but better than nothing) - or ebay and Amazon are good for cheapies.
Hope you have fun having a good look round - do join in the games if you can. But be warned, the Cap-Its and LolRoofs in particular will have you crying with laughter!

welcome to Rooftop. Hope you have fun here. We all like a family. If you need help, don't hesitate to ask.
Well, I am a fan of Rufus since 1999, where I have seen him as Marco in "Dangerouse Beauty"... I love almost of Rufus' movies, especially Petruchio, Aurelio Zen, Jacob Hood, Marco, Mick, Charles II.
In my youth I spent my life almost on th back of horses. Have not my own own, but 2, when I spent my holidays with horses.
Lying in hospital at the moment and breakfast is coming.
WELCOME
